What is EVE Mentat trade tool?
EVE Mentat is a handy trade tool for EVE Online.
This tool helps your to track and manage your orders, wallet and transactions for your characters and corporations. The tool checks whether your orders are on top of the market or were beaten by rivals, helps you to analyze the market and find profitable positions, and gives you instruments to automate gathering of market information from EVE Online.
Will this trade tool be useful for me?
The tool is extremely useful for the following EVE Online professions:
- Traders (including trade hub profiteers)
- Manufacturers who prefer to sell their goods themselves
- Agent runners and hunters who want to track the income from killing NPCs
- Corporate logists who want to track the total cost of purchased goods
- People who want to keep and analyze journal and transactions for a long period of time
This tool gives you control over hundreds of orders and thousands of market positions you are interested in. Gathering market information from EVE Online and managing your orders takes minutes instead of hours.
How the tool works
EVE Mentat trade tool downloads character and corporation information via EVE Online API or reads it from EVE Online clientGÇÖs cache. Downloaded order, transaction, journal and market information is stored in the EVE MentatGÇÖs database and used to check your orders against the market.

Steve Ronuken wrote:Been thinking about this (I'm using it. It's great. Thanks), and what I'd like to see in it, in addition to what it already does, is a value for the minerals that you have. Mostly to keep the small graph from dropping every time that I buy a bunch of Trit to make stuff with. Biggest problem I can see is that you'd have to hit the assets API as well, to make it drop when used. unless you make the drop a manual one and just increment when you see a buy order being filled. It's far from a major issue though. Just my OCD kicking in Do you have to calculate mineral cost of your assets and see the graph with total actives including wallet and assets cost? 1.1.24 did not get flagged by Norton.
As always you have no proofs. Is it so difficult to make screenshot and provide link to VirusTotal scan result?
I've just tested all executables and DLLs from EVE Mentat 1.1.25.736 and it's clear as always.

"As always" doesn't refer to you personally but to similar posts from other people. They haven't posted any proofs.
Unfortunately, but link ways to index page. I cannot see the report.
Zleon Leigh wrote: BTW - I only knew about VirusTotal because of the comment that I found on your support page where someone else posted this same issue about one of the releases (don't remember if current or a past release)
Norton pitched a fit at the point right after I pasted in the API key and hit submit, btw. Maybe that will help you out. Perhaps you need to get with Norton/Symantec.
I don't have time to post the screen shot, but I will post the results from the Norton quarantine:
I think it could be the result of behavioral analysis. Let me explain.
User actions: 1. User copies key into clipboard 2. Then pastes into EVE Mentat 3. After pressing button "Next" EVE Mentat sends this information into the web (/account/Characters.xml.aspx request to obtain character list)
And AV software reports keylogger, because it "thinks" that EVE Mentat sends over the internet the same information that is stored in clipboard. EVE Mentat - true trade tool |

Lex Fasces wrote:is there a way i can get my order's price status type thing to clear before importing new market data from my cache?
atm what happens is i run the igb checker and mentat tells me i have to update so many prices etc.
then i run it again half hour later - and the tool tells me i need to update prices. the problem is that it is telling me stuff it already told me on the first run through - so now i have to go through and manually check eve price change to see if i need to make it or not.
is there a way to wipe the slate clean after i have changed all my prices? Currently there is no way to do this.
I think It would be helpful to add "Fixed order" flag/option to suppress "overbid" status for concrete orders till next update. I've added task. EVE Mentat - true trade tool |

i use eve profit (a website) which takes the buys from my jita and character and the sells from my trading character and works out the profit from there.
these two tools put together really give you everything you will ever need as a trader =) Are you using the self cost option, to set the cost for each item? At which point it'll show you the profit (though tax is an issue. I can see that being /tricky/ to work out.) yeah. is there a way to make it automatic? Currently self costs in not automated but use can configure transactions filter to display only buy orders for some period, then select all (or some) transactions, right mouse click and select "Set multiple self costs...". This option will calculate weighed average self cost (from selection of course) for each type from selection. EVE Mentat - true trade tool |

I've investigated tax problem and have an idea how to implement it. So it's possible but requires time and inspiration.
Steve Ronuken wrote: Not entirely automatic. But you can right click on the price in the transaction list and set price from there. so 2 clicks per item.
OneInchTerror wrote:Problem with that is if you are in a highly competitive market, the price you pay can fluctuate by quite a lot so it taking that into account and taking the average of all bought and then the average of sold to give a total profit for an item
Please read my previous post. It will save a lot of your time. Also take into account that that option sets weighted average costs. So you can easily manage your self costs even when good were bought from a few transactions with different prices. EVE Mentat - true trade tool |

This effectively renders Mentat useless for fast order updating.

Hey, that's very strange, it's still not working for some reason. When I try to paste the copied price from eve mentat, which has a comma, I just have that bzz sound. If I try to paste just a comma in the Order price field, it works, but if I try to paste anything else, with the comma, it doesn't work. If I try to paste a price with dots, it's same as before, it pastes 400m instead of 4m for example. I was really not expecting that, this is pretty weird. I guess it's something related to windows and eve. Did you play with EVE Mentat's preferences? Could you send me screenshots with all described cases? EVE Mentat - true trade tool |

So I can't even test if the Mentat test build is working as intended. Don't really have time to double check and fiddle now but will get back on this. Edit: double checked and fiddled anyway, who needs sleep right? The EVE client will simply not let me paste any ammount of isk into the modify order textbox that has a separator in it as long as I use the Dutch notation settings. Can paste 1000 isk fine but 1000,01(comma) isk ends up just leaving an empty textbox. 1000.01(point) ends up as 100001 isk. So yeah, no way to test if your new build works for me till CCP figures that one out. *switches back to US notation settings* Confirm. It doesn't work after today's patch. I'm totally confused... However its not deleting all the files from the CachedMethodCalls folder for the market import. I create about 60 files per min from 3 EVE clients.
I ran a test for about one minute. 57 file created. EVEMentat said "51 files imported", however all 57 files are still in CachedMethodCalls.
Delete old files on import is definitely checked. (I am clicking the cache import button on the market browser page) Default import source is EVE Cache
EDIT: Running as Admin, and using "Import ALL" doesn't del the files either. EVE Mentat doesn't modify EVE client's cache. It's against EULA. "Delete old files on import " concerns deleting files from temporary folder which is intermediate between cache import tool and EVE Mentat.
To omit previously scanned market data use option "Preferences / Cache import tool / Import only new market data" instead. EVE Mentat - true trade tool |

Ajita al Tchar wrote:Pretty much an amazing tool, thanks for all the great work! It's helped me a LOT in selling stuff I manufacture since I sell my wares across multiple regions and almost never have fewer than 150 orders at a time (what can I say, I like making all kinds of crap and seeing just how high I can push the price on it and still have people buy it up ) It would definitely be cool to have some kind of a functionality for (optionally) automatically setting the self cost, but I can see how that would be tricky because different people are very likely to disagree to some extent on what the cost of an item is. For me it's how much it costs to produce but this is all I do, buy materials and sell them back as stuff that goes on ships and gets blown up soon enough. Personally, even a file import functionality would be useful for me, where the input could be something like a tab-delimited list of item names and prices (since I can easily obtain those just by exporting from my spreadsheets). As it stands, though, this tool is wonderful and I recommend it even though I understand it would make it easier for my market competition to compete with me, heh. Thart, I contracted you a token of my appreciation for the work you've done, considering that it makes my moneymaking faster and all Thanks! Thanks a lot for your donation!
Of course I have a different ideas how to calculate self costs, but currently I'm working on market import from EVE-Central/EVE Marketeer.

Please check program options: File -> Preferences, "Price status" tab, "Sell orders price range" options. Here you can set up preferred range: station, solar system, whole region.
Devon Stasarik wrote: buy orders - i use a lot of regional buy orders for several items. so im having the same problem as above. imagine this.. i place a buy order with the range of "regional" in a different solar system and with a price way bellow other orders with the range of "station". now i dont want to raise the value of the order, since im willing to go to any place in the same region to get the item. this order is green in the price because i was not outbided in the same solar system. but imagine that another guy places a regional order for the same item in another solar system? this way the order is still green, but i have been outbided for the regional order the program could allow the user tho choose orders within the same "range" as a complement of what is shown now (this away the order could go red with another order higher than mine, within the same range and placed in a another solar system. or the program could at least display in "market orders" the orders with the same range and / or all the other orders for the same region (from what i can see now the program only shows orders in the same solar system)
i know that i could with the market browser identify that, but again, if i do this for every item in the buy orders i would "waste" a lot of time doing that
It's known issue of EVE Mentat 1.1. But test prototype (EVE Mentat 1.2) has real order status checker based on route calculation between your and rival's orders. And it can catch even partially overbid orders. Apply to EVE Mentat Google group to be able to download EVE Mentat 1.2 test prototype. EVE Mentat - true trade tool |

1) The UI is painfully slow, learn how to write threaded programs and put the slow tasks in worker threads. E.g. loading updates, when ever some task is selected it locks up for anything from 20 seconds to 2 minutes while it finishes the task. WTF does it take 2-3 minutes to swap characters, Jeveassets which carries much more of data swaps characters instantly and loads all nine API updates in half the the time it takes Eve Mentat to load one.
2) Make load all actual load all, rather work throught the painfully slow UI.
3) Load market data from Eve Central with updates cache loading, I don't want to waste time browsing the market, exporting the data, and importing it into Mentat. It's a worse click fest than PI was.
UI is not slow. It's too much data are fetched from your database when you switch characters.
Normally switching between characters takes 0-2 sec. Application "speed" heavily depends on your preferences: especially on observable periods specified by user.
To speed up EVE Mentat do next things:
1. Configure graphs on "Character sheet" tab to show data for the last month (or week). 2. Configure "Orders" tab to show only active orders and history for last month or week. 3. Configure "Journal" and "Transactions" to show records for last month or week.
Also problem may be in case when EVE Mentat is located on external drive with slow USB connection (during character switching it heavily works with on-disk database). Try to move application to HDD.
Also you can send me log.txt file (in EVE Mentat's folder) generated after your regular work for analysis. It can show performance bottlenecks.

Any solution? Do you have two EVE Online clients in different folders? Did you try to specify direct path to cache in preferences? What about logs? Send me log.txt (after import) via e-mail please. EVE Mentat - true trade tool |

thanks for your great tool.
Is there a possibility to export the transaction and the journal data to excel? I would like to use the transactions for my own calculation but didn't find a possibility to get the transactions out of Eve :)
Thanks. EVE Mentat 1.1 doesn't have data export.
But you can apply to EVE Mentat Google group for version 1.2 testing. This version has possibility to copy via clipboard all data from any table in Excel-friendly format. EVE Mentat - true trade tool |

Firstly, thanks for the great app! I'm just having a small difficulty. My character has access to a corporate wallet division and I was wondering if there was a way I could look at a transaction record for that wallet division only (isolated from my regular wallet). I can do this in game, by opening my wallet and clicking on the Corporation Wallet and then going to transactions, but I don't seem to be able to do that in this app. Is there a way?
It would help me immensely and coming up with profit totals and such.
Thanks in advance!
P.S. I should mention that I have added the corp api key and have access to the corp buy/sell orders and such. Corporate journal and transactions support - are planned features. EVE Mentat - true trade tool |

Sorry for late reply.
Seloena wrote:- traded item comparison & profit+ table with columns (item, sum_price_buy, buy_count, sum_price_sell, sell_count, profit) + list based on selected time period + it would be cool to see there columns (buy_tax, sell_tax, profit_deduct_taxes) - i know its hard, coz API journal doesn't have in taxes rows order id field, but this still could be rounded by taking tax size (skills + standing in station order is done) and counting it from sum amounts. Most of these features were already planned. But I can say nothing about estimations because there are lot of tasks with greater priority.
Planned too.
Seloena wrote:- summary (some of this data we can find already in some tabs in EveMentat so it isn't necessary) would be nice if all this options will not take items that are selected as 'ignore transaction'. Thanks, task added to the database.
Seloena wrote: One more thing: could be there option for autorefreash data (similar as it is done in EveMon)?
EVE Online proposes API functions with quite different caching times (from 15 min to few hours), and automatic update will cause temporary data inconsistency. So I'm afraid implementing this.

Riko Korakila wrote:Maybe I missed the option, or it's not coded but is there a way to see if my buy order has been outbid by another order within range of the source station? I can set it to flag orders that outbid me X distance away, but cannot seperate those out from orders who's range includes my station. It seems either everything is flagged because the trade hub beats out my lower buy orders OR it misses buy orders that are not at the same station, but who's range includes my station.
Were that to be resolved, I could make some use of of this program, since checking bid competition is my big peeve wrt trading. Currently EVE Mentat uses distances between the rivals and actual order's range to calculate price status. And there is no possibility to limit this to the station. But I can add a kind of limitation for buy orders.

Eve Mentat is acting strange after this morning. It stopped updating a few sell orders and it's not showing that I have been outbidded. Looking in the Market browser tab, I can see that my Sell order isn't the cheapest anymore. In the Character orders tab however, it wont color red. The actual price does update in the Character orders tab, but it wont give me a signal I have been outbidded.
Perhaps I'm doing it wrong.
I'm importing data from the EVE Online client location. I also tried importing out of: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\d_games_eve_tranquility\cache No luck.

Jack Vanderpool wrote:New to eve and to Mentat and love both. Having a problem with the market browser.
A couple days ago I was researching prices, and looked for Massive Scordite in several regions using the navigation on the left. But now whenever I go to search for that (and this is affecting other commodities too), the Region view is stuck on The Forge. The whole list disappears, and when I select All and import again all that come up is The Forge.
I'm sure I'm just not getting the import timing/selection correct, but I seem to have tried it every way it makes sense to me and it is still stuck on one region. Is there a good description/document of how to use the Navigator panel?
Thanks!

Reah Loth wrote:Hey, I am having an issue with the cache import of market orders.
It works fine after I have deleted the MachoNet folder in the cache, but after a while (same session) it stops working again. Deleting MachoNet fixes it, but it gets tedious having to exit the client all the time.
I am using version 1.2.16.1161. There is no error message, the import pop-up box says x orders imported, y files deleted, same as when it works.
Did you try all from troubleshooting section?

Not sure if this is the right place to pose the question / suggestion, but is it possible to use the price difference as a parameter in the smart filter. I love the tool but when updating orders I'd like to only show orders with a price difference > "X". Is this possible or is there another tool that would achieve this?
Thanks for all the hard work! What is price difference? Maybe this expression [Price] - [Cost price] > 100000 EVE Mentat - true trade tool |

Erick Johnson wrote:When I update the market details from cache Eve Mentat and I click the individual line item it will show me the price difference between what I am selling / buying at and the best competitor price. So, you want to see difference between current price and closest competitor's price in a special column in orders table. Am I right? I think it's more useful to add "Competitor's price" column and then difference can be expressed as [Price] - [Competitors price]
Erick Johnson wrote:What I was hoping was to show / limit the orders that I have only been overbid on by set amounts so I can quickly update those, does that make more sense? I'm not sure if it makes sense, because such criteria is not acceptable for all orders. I think it's possible to achive this with filter. But it needs additional column like "Overbid amount". The expression will be like:
[Overbid amount] > 10 or [Overbid amount] / [Volume] > 0.1
I'll add both these columns in the next update. EVE Mentat - true trade tool |
