A brilliant idea, yet also a nasty security and coding effort : \
I think that, although this is a good idea, the DEVs are more likely to be concerned with in game areas than worrying about letting us working individuals ue the website to change skills, place, they prefer for us to actual PLAY the game ; ) --------------------------------------------- I'm the root of all thats evil yeah, but you can call me Cooki3
Some people couldn't get a clue, if they were in the middle of a clue field, in the middle of clue mating season, doused in clue pheromones, in a clue suit, shouting "Clooo! Clooo!" whilst beating themselves with a clue stick |

I think somewhere in a blog or CSM a CCP rep said that we would never be able to train from the web. They did not want people to just sign up, manage a character from the web and then start with a n00b ship with 6million sp's. They felt that this would detract from the R aspect of mmoRpg that Eve is.
It would be nice but it is then open to abuse.
Be lucky! Darwin 4tw

Actually, there is a certain economic arguement for allowing users to train skills from eve insider. Users who log in to the system from the web to change skills are almost certainly using far less in server resources and bandwidth than someone who logs into the game.
Security however may be at issue.

Training skills from an out of game interface (short of having a family member log-in and change them for you) is something that will never occur. This has been stated by the Dev Team numerous times.
There are a variety of reasons for this, ranging from "Training skills from outside the game breaks the immersion and the game stops being a game" to "Training skills from outside the game caters to the powergamer at the detriment of the casual player" and a slew of others.

Hi... i can't see how security can be an issue. If someone can get into the character on eve-insider then they already have the login details for the game and could easily change stuff there...

hear hear, this is a good and clear answer. Sure it would be easier if you could train from website or manage your assets and market orders from the website. If you play monopoly it is easier to take money from the bank secretetly instead of earning it via the game mechanics. This is of course not good and distracts from the game.

Well, this char I have now, was trained as a second accout for 4 months b4 he ever left the starting station...
Had 2 mill skill pts before stepping into & flying a frig...
How's that any different???
As long as they get thier sub fee's, why would they care???

Because, its in their interest to believe you are actually playing the game.
A clear answer on this great, but as you should know, gamers will always be dreamers, the dreams being the stuff of fantasy : b --------------------------------------------- I'm the root of all thats evil yeah, but you can call me Cooki3

the problem i have is with training skills that are 3-6 hours long
it is IMPOSSIBLE to train these skills practically as i never play for periods of time that long, and the only way is to train them a little bit at a time when i'm playing.
longer skills are find, as i can start one off and then a few days later it's finished.
i dont want toi switch them on the net, but i really would like to be able to queue them so that i can train my low level skills without wasting a day or two's training time (ie: the time between it finishing and the next time i can get on)
Not having this functionality, in my view benefits the power-gamers, who can play every day for long periods.
