Edited by: Psycho Doughboy on 09/07/2004 03:34:55 I for one am sick of the nerf bat being swung at every Amarr and his Minmatar every patch. And I'm not the only one.
For example, a friend of mine created an alt on a second alt in order to be able to learn the fine art of missiles and ew so he could participate in pvp in a support role for other corp members whilst maintaining his first account in empire as a research character. Many other ingame friends have had similar experiences with Minmatar ships, laser weapons, Caldari interceptors, research agents... the list goes on.
Of course now these things have all been nerfed. Not adjusted as they are in most games, but made substantially less effective.
This week we had the same thing happen with cloaks. So that if an enemy got within 10km of you you would decloak (or be visable). Not increased from 1k to 2k or even from 1 to 5, but from ONE TO TEN! Not to mention other things.
I love the way you guys have this game. It really is brilliant, but the constant changes to things are totally frustrating. The only thing that hasn't been nerfed or touched is mining. Where are the NPC battleship greenies to attack guys mining in uber battleships in 0.5 and above to FORCE them to mine where they are at risk in 0.4 and below unless they at least work with a friend to protect them?
A better and more productive way to handle the changes is when something is unbalanced, simply create a mod or a weapon that negates the effect of the unbalancing to rebalance things.
So for example, take a $300 torpedo being able to destroy a $300 million battleship in World War 2. What happened to navies around the world? They had to get naval protection, they had to fit small deck mounted machine guns, they had to develop AWACs frigates to defend fleets.....
Use the game dynamics to introduce new products that counteract one method of doing things, so that a player can adjust as these things are slowly introduced to the game, not find that the next day they login, their style of play has become useless.

As stated previously in Dev Blogs and all over the forums the 10km increase in the cloak declocking area was to stop an exploit and will be fixed at a later date.
I think if the Dev's made a module to counteract all exploits there would be more exploits created.
I do see your arguments though :)
Take comfort in knowing that its probably some pimply faced twit, or 40 year old virgin, who gleens everytime mommy offfers to take them to needle point lessons |

I for one am sick of people who have short memories or who want a static, unchanging game. The changes to beam damage and cap usage were a brilliant shot in the arm for us. I've had more fun in combat than I've had in the preceding four or five months of play. Life is all about change and I think it's great that the game changes. I've played other MMORPGs and felt the same way. Sometimes I gain sometimes I lose but in either case I have the fun of figuring out new angles to get ahead. -- (Battle hardened miner)

Actually... mining did get nerfed
Ark taken from empire space. Regional distribution of ores. Removal of hidden-safe belts. Pirates warping to hidden safe-belts. Deep Core Mining.
No longer can i sit in an indy mining Ark, safe in the knowledge that no-one will ever find me and watching the ISK roll in... You hear us miners complaining? I think not. We enjoy a challenge!

Think of the last patch, when they changed the NPC bounties, first tripled them, then more than halfed them again on the next day. Best example for strange rate of adjustment... |

I think it would be termed "shower adjusting" in some management circles, lol. I remember the hubbub during that bounty variance thing. Reminds me of some other games in the past where devs attempted to adjust things daily to appease the forum junkies (no offense to anyone ;) ), totally forgetting the silent majority that had to put up with the changes...it marginalized the game in the end.

Not so sure that the Minmatar haven't suffered a bit with these latest patches, but goodness knows we Amarr BS pilots don't have anything to grumble about. Yes, we did for a long time (and being told to "Shut up n00b" every time we did!) but not now.
Laser cap use is down; laser damage is up; pulse lasers have useable ranges, and ship grid is up. An Apoc can armour tank enough to handle 2 or possibly 3 NPC BS and still mount a decent set of weaponry. Best of all, I now have no temptation to load up my Apoc with railguns. Indeed, whilst the projectile and railgun users seem to be having a nightmare with npcs, pulse lasers seem to merrily shred cruiser and BS alike without any great difficulty. Life is good for an Apoc pilot right now.
All I ask now is that it takes as long for others' pleas to be answered as it took for ours to... ;-)

havnt nerfed mining lol..the miner 2 diaster was funny...and dont forget that when the game started you could get basic, standard, improved, advanced, harvester and elite mining drones..and only the basic is in ready supply while harvesters are now about 3mill a pop...i'd call that a huge nerf...no specific mining ships is also a problem
