For no "regular" test I ever took (job-related) was I ever given the results, and I never even tried to join Mensa (no point where I live, less than 100 members in the entire country due to lack of interest and emigration), so all I can go with was self-administered tests, and the things available in writing for a reasonable price aren't much better than those "free" online tests. There's only a few online tests that even list your percentile score (or mention the exact standard deviation the test has so you can calculate the percentile score), therefore I can only guess what my actual IQ is.
Top 3% for sure, possible top 2%.

actually, people with autism, add, adhd and other similar disorders are actually rather intelligent. i myself have adhd and have always been able to pass exams, even though i never study for them (just dont ask me to do an assignment, i hate them) and i know several people with autism, all of whom are really intelligent despite thier conditions. they all have really great memories and sttention to detail, and learn new things rather quickly, when they are focused. however, both myself, and my autistic friends can be very easily distracted and once distracted, it is really hard to get focused on the task at hand.
i personally think that my adhd is why i was able to learn eve so easily as i never had any problems when i first started other than the usual "wtf do i do know" that comes when you start playing any game for the first time.
fyi, my iq is somewhere between 120 and 140, cant remember exactly
I didn't say that autism = stupid, which is what you imply, I feel the need to correct this, also, on a 150 point IQ test I vary between 139 and 145, most tests are stupid because, as mentioned, they often only test particular kinds of intelligence, and all tests can be practised for, if you believe MENSA testing system, my mother has an IQ of 208

IQ tests are meaningless. They're not standardized, they're arbitrary, and they attempt to quantify something that is basically impossible to quantify.
I've taken seven different tests over the years, and wound up getting a pretty much uniform distribution of results between 135 and 207.
I don't trust IQs.

The last time I did an IQ test was in fourth grade (122). I should get another one done, except that I don't really care. ---

one could argue intelligent people don't waste their time getting fat playing pseudosocial internet spaceship games and we are infact all a lot less intelligent than we think.
but no it seems eve online is actually a darwinian socially engineered surivial of the fittest proof of manhood and all other people are lesser 'wow players'.

Actually I do not agree fully. A whole lot of Eve players just run their missions against zombie npc's for isk, do mining, trading or whatever. It doesnt exactly flex those mind muscles... its probably more challenging fighting mobs in WoW actually.
But on the other hand, there is the 0.0 part of Eve, with tactics, combat and strategic decisions. That requires more.

The flipside of that is many may be using their minds all day at work and just want to chill. If they've been programming computers all day, the last thing they want to do is use their brain playing a game.

And, since all of what you said is completely irrelevant to my point, which part exactly were you trying to disagree with? ________________________________________________

I've got qualifications coming out of my arse and with a bit of practice can bump up any test score.
Apparently that makes me clever in todays world lol no wonder the planet is ****ed. I refuse to believe people are really that stupid then you meet another... and another... and another... and another.
I pretty much forget everything I learn unless I use it everday. Common sense is why I do well at work. I would take anyone with common sense over high IQ any day of the week.

Ok so brain boxes can I have your opinion on what 'significant proportion' means statistically?
Is it 5,10,15,20,30,50 or perhaps 90%?

Does anyone here read the BBC 'Focus' magazine ? The latest issue has an article researching what the most successful people have in common (ie the Beatles, Bill Joy, etc) as well as controlled test groups and it wasn't just a high IQ/ natural talent, it above all else an opportunity to practise.
The magic number is 10,000 hours practising something, whatever it is be it sports, chess, coding whatever, to become an outstanding genius at it.
Research has proven that if the IQ is above 120, it ceases to count for much after that. Practise and dedication to a skill mean much, much more.

iq varys from test to test and also depends if you are in practise or not
i.e. rely on the calculator for even the simplest of calculations because its faster for an extended period of time and your gona see your score slump
similarly you could say your language skills where once great before you came in contact with the internet

That is why Mensa is doing it better with counting in percentiles. The only semi-reliable test I ever day was the national IQ test which aired on TV, and you had to solve a series of questions over the internet. This was composed of different subjects. I recall doing very well on language and logic and failing horribly on the maths part, ending up with an IQ score of 127. This was when I was still in highschool, I suppose it must have gone up a few points but not that much.
Practice is key though, I am currently trying to work on my maths by solving one problem a week. I have always loved reading and puzzles and games, so those get plenty of training already.

I lol at this.
Research and science in general never prove anything. Proof is for mathematics. Conclusions drawn from evidence are only as strong as the data and the interpretations thereof.
Questioning everything means more than having a high IQ. If you are book-smart yet simply accept everything people tell you, then your mind is more worthless than the dumb mofo that never stops asking questions.
Oh, and I got a 156 back when I was in 6th grade.. but I haven't taken an IQ test since, so I don't hold any meaning to the stupid number.

The stupid "IQ Tests" that u find online are garbage. You can answer every question right in less than 2 minutes, and the most you'll ever get is like 146. Just advertising gimmicks, not the true stuff.
I did one in Elementary School when i was probably 8 and got 142 i think.
