- As mentioned earlier in the thread, when local is nerfed nobody is going to need to do logon traps anyway. And if they do, you won't be able to tell. AFAYK they were just elsewhere in system and suddenly warped to you.
- In actual fact logon traps happen far less often than people think. I've lost count of the number of times I've been accused of logonski when my gang has just jumped through a gate and warped to a cloaked covops who was scouting the target for us. If you really want people to scream 'logonski' hysterically at you, just use a covert cyno and a blackops.
How does the OP *know* that he's been logonski'd?
In short, it's not really much of a problem, and within the next expansion or two it won't be a problem at all.
wham all war targets going green at bottom right of screen...at lest for empire wars. Which the OP seemed to be refering to...
True, but all the times I've been accused of it, not one person has brought this up as evidence. I think a lot of people don't realise the power of the address book.
Mine's full of known FCs and capital pilots :)

Ive seen on more than one occasion, and entire gangs worth of a certain southern alliance go red as we jumped in system, and thats lame, but ive yet to see one idea in here that doesnt hurt the everyman. you simply cannot 'fix' a mechanic by doing something that will negatively effect the people not abusing that mechanic. i need to go to bed, i need to log off, im not putting a cloak on my typhoon, id rather don my robe and wizard hat, i shouldnt be in a position to wake up in empire because somebody got home at 4 am my time and whipped out a probe launcher for giggles, honestly, think about the whole of what your suggesting before hand.

This has been going on for years now, it won't happen. CCP has turned a deaf ear to their player base. Unless it increases subscriptions a tangible amount, it won't happen.

this is an old and irritating tactic used increasingly in war situations.
normaly the happend to jump in or warped to our cov ops is used as an excuse. This dosn't cut the muatard and is the lamest of lies easily disproved. Just have an alt (not your main unless you want to lag out) put all war targets in the address book. Some Corps use this tactic as their normal practice (mostly the lamer merc corps).
Unfortunately even if this were an exploit CCP cannot deal with the teamspeak/vent issue as it dosn't hold logs for external apps so will always have to air on the side of caution with logonski accusations..
The only way I see to curtail this would be to change the login location. Either set to a random safe spot {have to at least warp to position} or position all logins within a few seconds at the same spot{for the comedy bounce of shame}.
I hope ccp will try to curtail this but now has the sense not to re introduce the queue system fiasco.
Bring this up with a stellar council rep. Its defiately a game detractor and needs a look.

Edited by: Korizan on 26/11/2008 23:42:24 Well login traps are nothing more then EVE with no local.
And I do see your point. BUT Login traps only work if your intended target is predicable enough to fall into the trap. AND you can keep the target there long enough for everyone to login and do the deed.
Now I must admit it is a bit cheezy but it also doesn't change the fact that they spent the time and effort to set a trap and it worked.
So considering nothing is likely to change anytime soon. Perhaps it is time you take a serious look @ your tactics and adjust accordingly.
I can see serveral ways to turn a corp that like to log off into a serious problem for them. So adapt and use their tactics against them
