One of my friends & I were wondering what happens when someone quits EVE. We know the characters aren't deleted immediately, but do they get deleted at all? Or do they last until the accounts reactivated?

its a good idea to set bs lvl5 or some such long skill training while u go do something else

Characters on a closed account stay in suspended animation for 6 months before their biomass is returned to the cloning tanks. Once their biomass is returned to the tanks, they are gone forever.
Due to the nature of long-term hybernation during suspended animation (your brain is an ice cube), it is not possible to train skills during that time.

Characters on a closed account stay in suspended animation for 6 months before their biomass is returned to the cloning tanks. Once their biomass is returned to the tanks, they are gone forever.
Due to the nature of long-term hybernation during suspended animation (your brain is an ice cube), it is not possible to train skills during that time.

A not that after 6 months nothing is guaranteed, but my friend came back after 8 months and was still there.

Naw, no OT (salaried  ) and no to the holiday. It took 45 minutes to D/L all my mail this morning, so I started hitting the forums during the wait and just kept on going.
As for the 6 month character deletion, that is correct. There are characters that have avoided the biomass tanks for longer, it just depends on when the maintenance guys get around to it. 6 months is the minimum time that a character will be kept however.

Yeah... I came back and was surprised that Minmatar Bship 5 was done. You're not gonna NERF that already?
I wish I had picked another Bship skill to train though. 
Your 425mm Prototype I Gauss Gun perfectly strikes some nublar, wrecking for 1155.0 damage. |

Has there been any thought to showing the status of an account to other corp mates or at least to CEO?
My case, one of our daily corp mates just vanished. We don't know if his account is still active or if it's closed and in 6 months he will be deleted.
