I see people talking about how they have billions of ISK, how do you do? In all the years I've been on EVE, I've never come close to a billion ISK. What's your strategy for making piles of ISK? |

Edited by: Verx Interis on 25/11/2008 04:41:54 It's usually one of these things:
1. Taking advantage of some one-time event (major price shift, much higher value of something when it was new, etc)
2. Lots of alts to maximize getting money every way possible (2 mining alts, invention/industry alt, JF alt, cyno alts, RnD alts, all of them resulting in a self-sufficient t2 production line that churns out ISK)
3. Scamming

Personally I wouldn't wipe my ass on a T2 BPO these days, for anyone with less than 200 billion ISK there's far better and easier ways to earn ISK.
Though not wanting to anger the rabid swarm of bees on this issue, their *only* use is if you've got money sitting around not doing anything and you want to make it turn a *guaranteed* profit, though that profit only just comes close to the profit you can turn performing other activities available to anyone, not just a those who got their number come up in a random chance machine. ---

Missions, missions and a couple missions.
Once I got my first billion, I invested in a Marauder. The 1200m3+ cargo and 40km tractor reach ain't a match for any two-phase runners (kill then salvage w/salvaging ship).
Right now, marauder is the key for level4. Of course, you need skills to perform. That's fairly obvious to some, but I prefer stating the obvious so the usual CCPKILLEDMYMISSILES!!11!! n00b don't come knocking in the thread. My marauder is a Golem.
I've seen -- NO -- difference what so ever. Maybe I was a little more skilled than the casual emorager.. On that note, a corpie came with the idea than now, maybe skills DOES shows more than before. Hell, I didn't even have to adapt. Maybe, just maybe, I had a better way for doing my missions even before the last expansion? Oh wait, I lost 25m/s of speed.. Damn CCP killed my nano Golem
Not to highjack the thread, sorry, but then for me it's missions.

My reply was relevant. A person can make a hell of a lot begging if they know how to do it right. It atleast wasn't a generic "you can make money doing the things written on promo's for the game" type response. Because a person that's supposedly been playing for a couple years doesn't know they can rat, run missions, mine, or build stuff.

One method I've taught many is to change the way you run missions.
1. Run L4 missions as efficiently & strive to do it quickly 2. Run the next mission without stopping to loot/salvage 3. Repeat
I would estimate that on average, the worst mission gives you 10M isk payout plus bounties and bonuses. That's a very conservative estimate.
If you get your gank to improve, it is possible to finish many of these missions in 30 mins or less. The really experienced mission runners can knock off a few of these in an hour with their tested set up.
Aim to get 40M a day (10M x 4) and do it in 2 hrs or less. That's about 1.2bil a month minimum with good social skills and ship gank/tanking skills.
I find that if I run missions and salvage/loot, it takes me twice as long these days and not all missions are worth looting & salvaging. If you really need to gather all the salvage and loot, then hire a noob to do it for you as you continue mission running. Just make bookmarks and contract them.
To summarize: a. Keep the mission momentum going, don't stop to loot/salvage b. Restrain your spending. Most people are broke not because of lack of isk income, but because of their spending habits.
Those who have done the above 2, have found that they ended up with lots of isks after a month or so. If you know how to convert your LPs to isks, the loss in loot/salvage can be offset by the larger increase in LPs because you are knocking that many more missions now. That's not to mention Storyline missions also.
Anyway, that's not what I do for isks, but I did test the method out for an extended period of time to be sure that it works and have trained others to do that.
Many of my social & connection skills are at lvl 5 maxing out what I can get from the agents and after I got a good tank, everything else was geared towards maximizing dps output.
Personally, I've been trading ever since I was a 2 week old noob because I messed up on my initial character creation and ended up with a character that couldn't do decent mining or even launch drones so I couldn't run a mission for quite a while. So that was probably the best thing that ever happened because I was forced to learn to trade for a living, which is my primary source of isks.
Anyway, I'm sick of shooting NPCs and can barely bother to get into my mission running ship.

Buying and selling GTCs sounds interesting tho. Have to look into that.
Eve is a tricky game tho, that much is true. The best advice is to join a good corp and talk to the other players in it. You will get better information that way, as people will tell their corp-mates stuff they won`t ever post on an eve-forum.
Oh, and there is plenty of fun to be had without stacking the billions.
#edit# my mistake, wenxiu mentioned it. But don`t do it because there is NO MONEY IN IT

Than i will say it. Most of the rich Eve players are hypocrite complainers about macro miners but have actually a dozen accounts doing it themself and making at least 2-5 billion each month. Believe me you dont make a billion every month by running missions only if you do it for at least 8 hours a day 30 day in a row.
Making ISK in this game is a ***** and you will not see the rest of the game if you focusing on that.
Best way to get ISK at the moment is just to buy it with GTC`s. So if you have lots of RL cash you would be rich in Eve. Nice thing of the GTC`s selling is that CCP promotes it.

If done in one of the bigger trade hubs, you can easily make in the 100's of millions every day for relatively little work.
It requires investment money of.c., and you need to know how, but it's not hard.
