I was doing Smash the Supplier last night and I had 2 accts running it. One has 8 mil sp in gunnery flying a Maelstrom fitted with 8 1400's. Second acct has 8 mil sp in missiles flying a Raven. Towards the end there were 2 identical Amarr BS's on the field so for a quick test I targeted one with the Mael and the other with the Raven. NPC Bs's were 70k from my ships. To my surprise the Raven killed its BS twice as fast as the Mael did. So with this piece of testing, I'm wondering if anyone else has had any similar results?
Both ships were set up for tanking in the mids and lows had 2 mods each for damage/tracking.
Results make me either want to train up rails or lasers but perhaps some of you can point my gunnery pilot to which are more effective. Or do missiles still out perform rails/lasers in missions? If missiles are better, thankfully my gunnery pilot also has decent missiles skills (as any good minnie pilot should  )

What? You can choose damage type with arty just like you can with missiles. Raven was using Paradise (em) and Mael was using EMP (em).

Yeah, I realize I was well into falloff so damage would be less. I was using Fourier tracking mods so hitting wasn't a problem. Still, even accounting for falloff, I was still a bit disappointed to see how much less effective the Mael was.

Sarciss, I see what you are saying about damage type then. Still EMP would be best ammo against Amarr and end results is same.

Well I got a WC to do so I'll see how both ships compare against serp and gurista.

Just shot 4 serp BS's. Raven had 1 core and one core high. Mael had 2 core. When raven was done the mael only had 2nd BS into half armor. Mael was using tritanium sabots and raven of course had wrath cruise. Range started at 80k and wound up down to 60k. Both ships were dead stop. So yeah I know, there are different factors involved but all I was intending was a side by side comparison to see what killed mission rats faster. Make of it what you will.
Now on to Guristas.

With Gurista, Raven killed his Extinguisher BS and Mael Extinguisher still had 80% armor. Range was 50-60k so was in Maels optimal. Sad to say but Arty's really do suck. Guess when My Raven pilot gets into a Golem I'll put the Mael pilot onto a CNR.
