-He is, in my opinion, the embodiment of the dying-breed solo-pirate. Any l33t pirate can come in here spewing stats because they camp gates and run around in 10+ BS/CS gangs with double falcons. But ask them if they're willing to jump a navy mega into a 10 man gatecamp three times a week.
In conclusion, all the smacktalk you're spewing is in vein, at best, and genos/heretics are trolling you. I seriously hope the measure taken by GM's is reconsidered, as eve itself is losing not only a pilot but an idea, controversial as it is.
The game is good. That doesn't mean its invincible. Everyone will have their ideas about there perceptions.
Before this gets locked i would like to justify that this is not to talk about Mod or GM actions.
The quote is the cause of a thought. Not many people can doubt a certain welshman is a great PVPer. But with the age of things comeing (blobs and such) is his kind a dying breed.
Solo piracy is what attracted me to this game. I havn't really done it. I do love the game but i think the crying and the pro carebear changes are a dark tide for things.
I guess its very difficult for the hard working guys to regulate and its difficult for us players to judge, but people do get upset in this game and in a game that relys so much on competition that is very difficult to avoid.
The whole idea of smack talk is unavoidable, either as a form of mental combat or as a form of hate for something that happend. I'm not saying either of these are acceptable but its clearly going to happen.
So i'd like to ask you guys that pirate. What do you feel to the current perspective of smack?
I'm leaving this open from here on out.

it's psychological warfare meets 4chan, to be honest - and through in through, it's not only effective, but outright lulz.
Heretic Nation's piracy code dicates a no-smacktalk policy - which arguably I encouraged people to trample all over when I met Garmon -- but the reason for it remains the same - mutual respect between fellow pirates and pvp'rs. I maintain that with most people when I'm chatting, I mean, if you get me serious, i a private convo, I like to think I'm intelligent and maybe even pleasant to talk to. But on the battlefield, why hold any bars? You don't have to make RL threats to get someone angry, but why not act like a 14year old german rage-child if it means somem hilarity and killing a vagabond with a ferox?
Bottom line, for me, I guess, is that I like to think that eve is THE no-holds-barred game. That is, it's a sandbox where I can, to a reasonable (shrinking?) extent, scam, extort, kill and manipulate other players freely without fear of moderator intervention, as long as a certain set of prerequisite rules are met.
No, I don't believe garmon did anything vioating the EULA, unless perhaps it was nerft along with everything else in the QR patch?

I believe a fair amount of my kills come from acting like a 14 year old ******, the lols you get from local are great, and so are some of the kills, my bio for example I changed it 2 days ago and people seam to treat me as a nub straight away, that mixed with a ******ed ship name and some good smack about how good I am in local works wonders.
Risk a ship, go small gang, go solo, go act like a tard (go garmon????).

Fair point and i as i said i do not dispute the current state of things
What I'm suggesting is that in the atmosphere this game is set in its impossible not to face smack. Even in the heat of the moment when the adrenaline is pumping your going to say some ****.
Besides that when you face a combat situation smack is an amazing weapon and fights do get very intense in this game. Its a game about those 1% differences and that lack of balance in an opponent can make all the difference

Smack talk 'victims' should refain from getting emotional about what someone said about them through an internet spaceship game. If you can't do this atleast, you've already lost the game. If you can, enter a game of wits (god forbid) where you decipher if your opponent is mentally inept or clever, emotional or calm. This speaks volumes to how they'll act in combat, and can be a valuable asset.

No1 is ever going to freak out because of a little smack, but some ppl like garmon just go to far. Surely you can force people to make mistakes when you upset them, but you should do it in a civilized manner.
It does not matter to me if someone says to me "your father is your brother" and stuff like that in RL or in a spaceship game. When some nerd hiding behind his PC thinks he can say whatever he wants, because no1 can really harm him in that situation, it just makes it even worse.
In RL i would punch someone talking to me like that right into the face (and no.. this is not a targeted RL threat).
Treat your targets with respects, making jokes and everything is fine, but do not do it on the level of 10 year olds.

I'd take an analytical leap of faith and say it does.
Too add a conclusion to things then;
People make an understandable point about smacking being the joy of a 10 year olds mind, however most of the community will go running towards a smackfest.
Alot of players smack and its immpossible for one person to judge is a certain phrase is crossing the line. Different things affect different people.
You could turn things around and say if smacking is acting like a 10 year old then so is running and telling the teacher.
With things like merc's and war decs and bountys the game gives everyone an opportunity to deal with thier own problems. So unless petitions can be fitted onto your highslots they are a bit silly in my perspective.
If the case is someone smacks and survives then they are not upsetting enough people or not upsetting people enough to have karma bite them back.
Smacking should be like making your bed, if at the end of it you can lay in it...well done.
And most of all, take care of yourselves and take care of each other....or whatever it was Jerry said.
