You said the finals will be broadcasted live, what about the qualifying rounds ? Will it be downloadable the next week after event, like you did with the fanfest movies ?

I guess a few people fought really really hard for it.
Cost cuts were solid and thought through, and no doubt the proposal was detailed and passionate, those few within CCP that have the passion for this, and really beleive in it have done us proud. Lots of beers owed tbh.
And CCP deserve love for being men enough to step out onto the edge again.
This is videogaming future. Eve TV is groundbreaking and CCP as always have taken the risks for others to follow suit. Feb is gonna be so sweet.

The CSM raised it as an issue. The thread I created reached a stupid amounts of page of support.
Also, the answer wasn't completely no. The point was that it was too expensive. They are now doing it for just 1 weekend, unlike the other time, when it was 2. So the cost factor has been changed, making it now possible.

Strange, in this video (ccp panel at fanfest) -> 0:24:30 you said it was cancelled for ever in favour of an arena for cost reasons..
Are there any new developments, that overruled the reasons given in this video ?
And what's with the arena, will it be cancelled in return, when you continue with the tournaments ?

OK, I just want to make sure CCP understands that videos of all fights are an absolute neccessity. I don't expect full eve-tv style coverage of anything (although it would be good for the finals), but raw fraps simply must be produced.

Many thanks for doing this for us one last time. I guess the golden era of alliance tournaments will end with this sixth one, because no player-run arena tournament will ever measure up to the legacy of the original.
I understand that it's a major cost factor in both money and personel, and that in a time of economic uncertainty, but I do implore you to let it go out with a bang, and not let it wither away in mediocrity.
...Unless, of course, there are plans for further (maybe annual) tournaments in the future, arenas nonwithstanding...

Hm, maybe somebody within CCP has finally stopped taking advices from Marketing and have returned to do awesome stuff because it is awesome, and not to limit creativity and commitment due to some cost-benefit analysis with numbers pulled from the rear.

You got it all wrong.
Yes, the actual combat now takes place over 3 weekends due to the fact there will be no fighting on fridays.
But the actual cost CCP had was housing x numbers of people for almost a month for doing EVETV. For bandwidth for 2 weekends(6 days).
They are now cutting that down to housing x people for a small week and only streaming the fights over a period of 2 days.

The only little drawback is the lack of reporting on the qualification rounds and covering only the finals. Maybe something could be done about this? Some cheap audio-only commentary and no big video coverage besides the actualy fighting? That would be great. If that is not possible, then maybe we can get summery and (video) highlights of the inital rounds?

PvP is fine now. This tournament should be pretty interesting anyways considering that there's going to be setups now viable, and being used, that wouldn't have happened before.
My AFs are useful for pvp, for example, which makes everyday pvp more fun than it used to be. Did you play when the thorax had a 200m3 dronebay? If so, do you remember the doomsaying about it being reduced to 'only' 50m3?
I think it'd be interesting if they allow militia-corp teams to be fielded, since militias are sort of like an alliance (and corp), but doubt it'll happen due to the arguing of teams in the militias over who would go.
