i have a mission thats says the first mission gate can only be accessed by a frigate.
question: can i activate first gate with frigate, then once at second gate, bookmark something near the second gate and return with my destroyer?? or do i have to run the whole thing in a rifter :(

a destroyer is a frigate sized ship it ll fit through the acceleration gate.
the right answear is, if you have a rifter, you shouldnt be doing missions in your destroyer ;)
either way itll work out for you im sure.

You can make a bookmark in the mission, finish the mission (at your agent) and then warp to the bookmark. This can be handy if you want to pick up a can 150 km from the warp in point for example. Note that if you finish the mission any asteroids and other mission stuff will be gone, so if you want to mine you'll have to do that before finishing the mission (at your agent). If you have problems with the mission, get some people in frigs to help you and do the mission as a fleet.

@Cauldron Born
you sound like a new player so heres my advice to you.
1) check your starting attributies. (current value -"skillbooks added value" -"implants added value")
do this to all your attributies and check your Intelligance/perception ones. You ll want a mission runner to have as high perception as possible and decent INT. (dont worry too much about memory or chrisma)
2) go here: http://www.eve-guides.com/chargen/chargen.php
and try to make a few differnt characters and check what attributies they get (a year from now 2 points of x stat might mean something and if your a new character with badly placed attirbuties it might be time to remake a new character).
you probably play minmatar, from the mention of the rifter. Alot of mission runners / pvp characters that start as minmatars go with:
Minmatar/brutor/slavechild (place +3int +2per) base attributies: 13per 9will 7int 4mem 6chr
pick "special ops" and you ll be very close to a start off pvp carrier. That rifter you have can be a nasty little ship to catch if your useing a MWD going 3000m/s around a "Battle ship" in circles.
then train up a few Ewar skills/Capacitor skills, and aim for T2 autocannons. (your ready to tackle pretty quick with a character like this)
then go hunting for a respectable corp that ll take newbies and train them in pvp/missioning and ask for a litte help with skills books ect.

I would ignore the previous advice and just stick with your char if you like it :) Remember that if you overspecialize a character in one direction, your training will suffer the worse if you decide to do something else with him.

I thought that was why you had 3 character slots or one of the reasons, you start with about 1mil SP in various skills, and can optimise attributies for each of the 3.
that way you can have a character with a natural 15mem 10int or something be a miner, instead of trying to do it with a avg character or someone that might have very low mem/int base.
I know avg joe, avg attributies wont suffer as much if he decides to become a miner, even though he made his character for pvp/missioning at the start. But he ll "always" be training slower than a optimised character.
what if he likes missions/pvp? overspecialiseing with attributies isnt always a sinfull word. Esp for newer players, and older ones probably already know this well enough.
reason people have alts, or one of them, is to have differnt characters specialised for differnt things. That includes overspecialised and optimised attributies for various roles. (and the reason for this, is to save time)

Edited by: Louis deGuerre on 27/11/2008 15:40:15 I'm not saying specialized alt are always bad, but this is a new player and probably his only character. I reason he is trying out the game and not sure what he likes to do in EVE. Best to have a balanced main and get some specialized alts when needed. You can only train one at a time. When he does decide to make a specialized alt your advice is valuable.

thanks again everyone!
I am a new pilot for sure but i have read alot about eve before i joined. so far, i have not regreted anything i have done so far..
my stats:
Attributes Intelligence11 Perception13 Charisma6 Willpower9 Memory 10
I went min/brutor/slavechild...indy/prospect so i can mine while training combat/ship skills..
I am mining and running lv1 missions to break mining up. i own a rifter/probe/retriever[cant use yet]/thrasher and a hoarder. mining paid for all of this.
destroyer: 6 280mm artilary, rocket, 1 slavager, sometimes i drop a gun for another salvage gun if i guess there will be massive ship to kill.
the reason i use my destroyer is that i can drop those enimies fast in missions and salvage at the same time without ever heading back to base untill done.
i am not very old but i am having a great time and i absolutly love this game!!!
