This test was only done on a Tachyon Beam Laser w/ Multi Crystal, and a Tracking Computer II..
Without Tracking Computer.. Optimum Range = 26,400 m Tracking Speed = 0.0167046
With Tracking Computer.. Optimum Range = 30,360.0 m Tracking Speed = 0.0167046
Notice the tracking speed is the same.

No, notice that the tracking speed isn't update but it still works. Still needs fixing but it's not as bad as it looks.

This bug's been there for months now. I'm not sure if tracking speed actually gets updated or not, but it won't display a change either way. To fix you need to fire one round from your guns before you turn on the tracking comp, it'll update with the correct values then.

if you activate your turrets before activating the tracking comp, then the tracking comp values aren't used for tracking OR range.
You HAVE to activate the tracking comp BEFORE activating your turrets in order to make use of the range bonus.
Do you mean activate the turret, then deactivate it before turning on tracking?
Dunno.. Anyways. I use Tracking Comps for the range modifier more than the tracking speed. So this stupid bug doesn't affect me that much.

Well before the last major patch if I turned the tracking comp on first neither change would display, but if I turned it on while my turrets were firing both changes would be correctly displayed in the turret info. Seemed like it was working too.
I think firing a round, then deactivating the guns to turn on the comp would work too. Either way it's an annoying bug, I've still to find out if it's just a display problem or if the bonus really isn't getting applied.

Another workaround is to equip your tracking computer first, repackage your guns and then equip them. Turning on the tracking will now display the correct values on your guns.

This bug is in game since release. Nothing really happened about it, nobody could ever tell me if it's just a graphical one. Another workaround is to activate it and relog in space.
