Edited by: Anubis Assassin on 29/11/2008 01:43:44 Can someone please explain this to me?
First off, I don't really know much about Minmatar ships and don't see them very often, so I'm leaving them out. Also, this is just about battleships, so lets not deviate from that...
Compare the Raven, the Megathron and the Apocalypse.
The Raven is the smallest of the three, the model size in space. It is also the slower than the Mega and has more mass, but less volume than both the Mega and the Apoc? The Raven goes the same speed as the Apoc, but the Apoc is almost twice its size...
What gives?
Oh, and I forgot to add, of the three, the Raven being the smallest, it's signature radius is the largest. Raven 460m while the Apoc and Mega are 400m. --------------------------- I have to make my own sig break? WTF? These forums suck CCP, fix 'em or get something better... I'm tired of reading Khraunus' sig every single time I read one of his |

Edited by: Another Forum''Alt on 29/11/2008 01:45:50 The raven is a lot wider than the mega, tempest or apoc. The mega and apoc are long, the tempest is tall.
As for velocity, that is deliberate. When comparing equivalent ships, minmatar ships are supposed to be lightest and fastest, gallente ships second, while amarr/caldari ships are heavier and slower.

lol I remember how people used to complain that the scorp was so small compared to other battelships, and it was, pretty much an oversized cruiser. that was a long time ago. -----------------------------------

It's true though, the Raven and Scorpion aren't much bigger than the Drake or Ferox. Hell, I think the Myrmidon and Brutix are about the same size as them --------------------------- I have to make my own sig break? WTF? These forums suck CCP, fix 'em or get something better... Small ships, big shields = big signature radius.
But this not answers why are they bigger in sigradius. They should be equal in sigradius.
Lots of good things can be fitted in small ships. :) Caldari have the most advanced manufacture technology. They under 45nm!

The reason Caldari ships are small, yet heavy, is because we make them out of advanced alloys. Also, we use gravimetric-related drive systems, which also require lots of exotic elements, I'm sure.
Ok, it's a guess. But a good guess!

1) Caldari ships fly using Graviton reactors. 2) We all know Caldari people tend to "optimize". In fact, Caldari manufacturers do not give a s**t about looks, it's all about optimization and efficiency. They do not waste precious space.

Caldari ships have a miniture black hole inside them increasing their mass
and the shields make caldari ships have a higher sig res iirc And above all, read my sig! |

In terms of tanking, caldari shield tank, so no need for bulky armor plates, thes lesser size.
But I agree, they should have lower mass hen the other races, really, or the modles should be a bit bigger ^^. I never liked teh Raven design tho, but the Rokh, oh man it is awsome :).

This, so please keep them smaller. The Caldari are supposed to have some of the most advanced technology, which can mean miniaturization of ship components allowing for smaller ships. Others have said the high energy shields or even the graviton reactor can account for the same average signature radius.
It is fluffy background reasons, keep them :)
