Out of pure interest (because the abilities of a ship are of more concern to me than the size) have ccp ever explained this? Is it intentional or just one of them things?

Did they explain how out of three ships, one of them is the smallest? Yes, that completely needs explaining.

Looking back, I fully and wholeheartedly blame the backstory. I'd totally have gone Gallente if nobody had said they were French.

The point is that the stats don't match the scale of the ships. Even with shields, there's no way in hell the Raven would have a larger signature radius than a Megathron. Caldari ships should have a much smaller sig radius, and unless we're packin' some really dense ships, we should be much lighter and more agile.
Using one of the images posted in this thread, I compiled an image of sorts to kinda give you a better example of battleship scales:

Can you not see just how small our ships actually are compared to the other race's battleships? There's no way the sig radius on them should be as large as they are.

your sig radius is based on electromagnetic radition witch caldari puts out a lot of due to having the best shields and electronics, thats the price for having the best
e-war, not a high enough price though.

I just looked at the Scorpion. Its sig radius is a massive 480 m. The Hyperion's is 485 m! The Scorpion is 1/5 the size of the Hyperion, at best, and it's got a sig radius almost the same size? That's just a bit ridiculous, don't you think?
