I believe this happens if they have not aggressed (ie: shot you) and aren't in a warp bubble or warp scrambled.

What if he logged off and then logged on on the same account to one of his alts ? This was a problem at some point, perhaps it was never fixed.

Also never confirmed. But, if you log off while cloaked. You can't be agressed before you'r logged of, so you'll dissappear within 1 minute regardless of what happens. _

A useful reply, thanks for adding such a sterling insight to the thread. BTW, seems you didn't get the memo about Quantum Rise and nano ships.
The OP's choice of ship is not the issue, dude. The issue is he seems to have aggroed someone, who then logged off and did not remain in space for the 15 minutes he should have done. Bug or exploit? I don't know why this happens, but I see a couple of threads a week about similar incidents.
The whole "log on an alt on the same account" thing that everyone always brings up in these threads worked for a very short period of time, a long time ago, and has been fixed for ages.

I have been playing this game for 3 years. It has been an issue/bug/exploit ever since.
There is no excuse for not fixing this, in fact CCP has even boosted the logoffski method for bigger ships.

Remember that if he jumps into another system, his aggression is gone instantly and he can logoffski instantly instead of having to wait 15minutes. |

The ignorance of the OP is hilarious. If someone knows the game mechanics better than you it doesn't mean they're haxploiting. It just means they're better than you.

We jump in with the ark, re approached gate, the pilots name was still in local chat right till he uncloaked, i was too busy locking it and pointing to notice when exactly his name dissappeared.
This has only happened a few times to me but the other previous times their names left local long long looonnnng before they decloaked. Just wondering if there is a delay or whatnot.

Gawd your stupid. It doesn't matter if you had him tackled and engaged. He logged before you engaged him. Lame or not there is no bug here.

by all means, enlighten us on how you knew he hadn't logged yet? You could lock him, scramble him, and even get him into structure, but if he all of a sudden disappears, then he logged before you agressed him. Thats the only way to know if somebody logged before/after agression...period.... fact end of discussion. moron.

When they log they disappear from local straight away.

No, they dont.
It often lags a fair bit, and as i've found if your on grid with someone, can take 10 seconds to half a minute for them to dissapear, i've tested it with my own alts. ______________________________________________

Edited by: Faife on 02/12/2008 16:35:53 you don't disappear from local right away, you disappear from local when your tcp/ip socket dies. this can be as long as 180 seconds (3 minutes) (EDIT: or as soon as few seconds)
i've had alts talk at my main in local for extended periods of time before
happy to help --

That was fixed.
He logs off before you put an aggression timer on him. If he's not dead in 1 minute then he disappears and is saved.
A long time ago, people of a certain nationality were accused of doing this - which they probably were doing - but since then the accusers actually thought it was a cool idea and now do it themselves - worst part about that is, I can't read Russian, but I can read the English smack bandied about when they log back in, they're usually rather proud of themselves with their hotskillz. Every major alliance has logged on me at some point. To be honest, I'm used to it now.
It isn't ever going to be fixed, Ironically CCP claim it's not to punish the legitimate disconnects that occur from time to time, although this has never happened to me. Every time I've had a disconnect I've already had an aggression timer so stuck around for the full 15 minutes and died as a result.
For freighters you need a neutral alt to aggro first (except in 0.0, where you'll need an alt with blue standings to the pilot). Put the timer on by aggroing with the alt then bring in your main - it's a lot of effort, maybe more worth your while to just make friends with the pilot and scam him out of everything he owns instead. Quicker. Easier. Less likely to hit barriers placed by CCP.
