Tournament Slots
In the Sixth Alliance Tournament there will be 64 slots available for alliances to compete. Some of the slots will be reserved for alliances, based on the following:
Fifth Alliance Tournament finalists - 8 slots. The top 8 teams from the fifth tournament will be automatically granted entry, if they apply. Fourth Alliance Tournament finalists - 4 slots. The top 4 teams from the fourth tournament will automatically be granted entry, if they apply. Faction Militias - 4 slots. The 4 factional warfare militias are automatically entered. See below for how this will work. Remaining slots ( 48 ). The first 48 alliances to sign up will be granted entry, providing they subsequently follow the entry rules.
Entry rules
1. ALL alliances (including those with automatic entry) must apply using the signup page. This page will be available from downtime on Friday, 19th December. Only the CEO of the Executor Corporation of the alliance may apply. This is non-negotiable.
1.1 At this time, a team captain must be nominated. All further correspondence will be to the team captain only. 1.2 At any time, the team captain may be changed by either the alliance executor CEO or the current team captain. 1.3 Requests from the Alliance Executor take precedence over the team captains.
2. Within 24 hours of signing up, the Executor must deposit 500 million ISK into the wallet of "CCP Mindstar", with the alliance name as the description of the transfer. Failure to do this will void entry.
2.1 If the money is paid late, the time the money was paid into the wallet of CCP Mindstar will be used as the entry time, for the purposes of "first come, first served" entry. 2.2 All deposits will be refunded following the conclusion of the tournament. Deposits will not be refunded if a team fails to show up for any match, or is otherwise disqualified.
Confirmation & Contact Instructions
An EVE Mail will be sent out to each team captain confirming entry as soon as the above conditions have been verified. There may be up to a 48 hour delay on this once the signup deposit has been paid. The final tournament teams will be confirmed on the 12th January. The draw will take place shortly after confirmation, with the schedule for Qualifying Round 1 being placed on the website by Friday 16th January. All correspondence should be sent via EVE Mail to CCP Mindstar.
Factional Warfare Militias
The leadership of all 4 factions are all keen to show their stuff in this tournament. As such, the militias will be holding a competition of sorts prior to the tournament to decide who will champion their push for glory! This will be done as follows:
During the signup period (Downtime 19th Dec until downtime 9th January), we will be monitoring the pilots who obtain the most capture points by capturing or defending dungeons within Factional Warfare. Following downtime on the 9th January, the top 3 pilots by capture points will be announced on the forums, and notified by eve mail. These 3 pilots must work together to nominate one team captain for their militia.
The team captain does not have to be one of these 3 members. The nomination must be presented by at least 2 of the 3 to CCP Mindstar before downtime on the 14th January. If a majority cannot be reached, the final decision will be made by the top pilot by capture points. If one or more of the top 3 prove to be unreachable or unresponsive via EVE Mail, the next highest pilot(s) by capture points will be contacted & announced.

The militia rules are very interesting, I like it. I don't expect much out of the militia teams, however. I'd be suprised if any make it to the top 8.
I hope you have some nice RP annoucements for the militias as this thread is kinda buried in the forums.
Oh, I'd do it by most kills rather than most capture points being a pvp tournament but meh that's ok too I guess. --

I haven't checked, but what if an alliance that was top 8/4 in previous tourney doesn't exist anymore? Will the top 8/4 still existing alliances get a spot or just the top 8/4 .. or will it be purely by team (if the players maybe moved alliance)?
Haven't checked, just might be good to have this detailed in advance?
All the stuff above does not necessarily reflect my corp, my alliance or even me.. Drone guide.. |

If you apply, and were in the top 8/4 you get entry. Most likely there are a few that have disbanded, some may reform for the tournament.
If there are not a full complement of teams that match this criteria, then the 48 first come, first served slots will be increased to fill the gap up to 64 -- |

Quick look finds following alliances auto-qualified:
5th (not in order):
Triumvirate. Ev0ke Cry Havoc. Pandemic Legion Notoriety Alliance KIA Alliance HUN Reloaded The Kadeshi
4th (not in order):
HUN Reloaded Pandemic Legion Terra Incognita. Cruel Intentions
I think they're all still around or were created/used for the tourney last time around.

Nope. The slots do not 'trickle down'.

Quoting failure here. So do PL/Hun get two teams? If not then how will 62 teams change the format of the tournament? What happens if say one of the teams reserved a spot don't want to play this year, how will the Tournament work with for example 61 teams?
Also, why are you not allowing people who want to join if you have slots open for them to join? Going with a tournament of 62 rather than 64 is a bizarre choice. Is that really such a huge deal that you cannot let willing participants in?
You should at least think in advance of what you are going to do in case of an odd number of alliances involved. --

I think what Claw was referring to is that we would not allow the 8 slots for the winners of Tournament 5 to "trickle down" out of the top 8. ie. teams in the top 16 would not be able to use them, even if only 4 of the top 8 apply.
Duplicates, alliances that no longer exist, or alliances that do not apply will mean these slots become available as first come, first served slots - we will not turn people away if there are empty spots. -- |

Sorry, I completely misread the acronym. Ignore my previous comment :)
To clarify, if an aliance would be in more than one reserved slot, then it only gets one slot meaning that less slots are reserved, and more slots are open to general signups. There will always be 64 slots in total.

Does the nominated captain and/or the team need to be in the competing alliance at that time (on the 19th), or can they join the alliance at a later date pre-tournament?
Thanks.

Team Captain must be in the alliance. It is possible for the captain or the alliance executor to request a change to this as per 1.2. I'll amend the signup rules. -- |

What I'm getting at is...
If you've got a 1 man alliance sat on an alt, is it ok for the alt to be team captian for that 1 man alliance up until such a time as the whole 10 man (or whatever) team must be in the alliance for actually competing in the tournament?
I think you're saying that thats the case, given some jiggery pokery renaming the captian at a later date, but clarification would be good.
Thanks again, Vyk.

First of all, was not expecting us poor wee militia peeps would get in this at all... but now we know we can, and how do we get this... PLEXING!
As a corp who don't do much plexes, if its there and it encourages the Caldari (or even pirates) to say hello, we'll fire right in there. But now you have given us (the PvP leet of the Gallentes) a reason to plex.. I say .. "well played sir, well played! You have won this handsomely" A reason to PLEX for pew pewers'
I just worry that 3 total carebears who do nothing but plexes and missions gets to pick a captain for us and we end up with a 2M SP toon who can only fly t1 fitted cruisers and picks himself for the team every time and picks his 5 6M SP pals to fly along side him, look at ship fittings 10 minutes before the fight and make the rest of us commit hari kari /o\
But can you imagine, JUST imagine, one of the militia's get to the TV round pull a big 0.0 alliance (say BoB just for example.. JUST for example) AND WIN.. OMG can you imagine the CAOD posts on that.
Militias in the Tourney.. VERY NICE! Looking forward to it (me only prays that one of my guys gets a vote, I'm off to purchase plexing ships as soon as DT is over)!

Ok let me start by saying a big thanks to ccp for including the militias in this, it was totally unexpected and very welcomed. However to have the entrants chosen by the top 3 plexers makes a complete mockery out it. Still I guess thems the rules so plexing here we come, just seems bloomin' stupid that to enter a pvp tournoment we have to stop pvping and start pveing.

The Kadeshi were in the Top 8 of the Fifth Tournament, so you do qualify. You MUST still sign up using the regular signup process, and deposit 500 million isk.

Will there be a medal or something for those top 3 militia people? They are not really getting anything for their troubles currently, as they may not be able to participate in the tournament, and even if they do they still are not guaranteed to get in. ---

I fight Evil fairly often in FW and I cant agree more, Way to go to reward the people sitting in T1 frigs plexing all day. My corp do plexses but we aint the point *****s in T1 frigs, cause we actually like to fight. But people who fight wont be getting in on this fight I guess

I agree. Some of us with high plexing rank don't do just for PvE (since there are no real rewards to plexing) but for chance to get some PvP opportunities.
Likewise, if we only count plexes from tomorrow onwards, we are not giving rightful recognition to existing plexers and their efforts, such as to entire PERVS corp since they start with exactly 0 points as others.

I suspect the militia pvper who decides to plex now for the turnament will develop a health respect for the dedication it takes to run the amount of plexes to make the top 10.
Maybe now is a good time to start sucking up to plexers instead of be-littling their efforts

Wow @ militia requirements...
CCP in my opinion, you are taking away from the spirit of militia entries. A lot of people who run around capturing plexes all day long do it incognito. Now, the next few statements may seem rash and assumptive but...
Let's say joe blow plexer has been playing EVE for 6 months and is currently the top plexer with capture points. EVE experience would say that there is not enough seasoned pilot there to make sound PVP combat decisions.
On the counterpoint, some people in faction warfare currently are seasoned alliance pilots or what have you. Because they have left an alliance to join a militia is one thing, but to be rewarded for it and have the spotlight taken away from some EVE player who has never been in an alliance and has instead chosen to join the militia (go RP go!) should be rewarded FIRST.
Anyone that has been in an alliance has had a chance to participate in Alliance Tournaments. Those who have not been able to participate should get first dibs.
Just my two isk.

Edited by: Red Gabba on 18/12/2008 20:29:52 Be nice to be proved wrong but i think that the four militia slots are a waste of time because of the plexing rules. I personally think the person that gets the most is going to get a shock when CCP mail him.
I can only talk for my faction, but we have good FC's and some solid PVPers that sometimes do the occasional plex, rest of the time we are out hunting WT, yes we chase of WT and close plex's but really that's only in the hope of getting a fight, or at least using the fleet we have while WT are not around. Pirates have provided some good scraps and if there not around, CVA space is always fun, but the people who step up for the fights are probably not going to be in the top ten plexers.
honesty, could you not just leave this to the leaders of the militia corps to decide, we know who we are and know who the best team would be, then we could provide the pilots that would not make it a wasted slot.
