At what point should a newbie look for a Corp to join?
Should I look for a newbie corp? or just go freelance until I get my skills built up?

it totally upto your style of gameplay, if your a loaner that doesn't work well with others then waiting till u find a corp that likes that might be best for you.
on the other hand, if you enjoy chatting, making friends, being helped out, and helping others out, while all the time gaining ISK and ITEMS, then join a corp with a good rep
there are plenty out there, u just need to ask about, maybe go though a few of the 1.0 systems and ask on local chat.

I joined a corp after 2 days in Eve. I'm still in that same corp over 4 months later. Really glad I made that choice, it's an awesome corp =)
It basically depends on you though. It also depends on how soon you find what you are looking for. many corps offer assistance to new players (mine included) and advice and support to make sure you get off to a good, productive start.
Convo me in game if you want, or eve mail me and I'll get in contact. We are recruiting atm. If our playstyles and personalities match we have a home for you. If they don't I might be able to tell you who to talk to to find what you are looking for.

Actually, I found my first corp through the strangest of manners...basically I just met one of them, who was in a a Moa, while I had just gotten a Merlin. Funny how being new to the game makes everything so impressive...
If you're a newbie, just make sure you talk to the recruiter of your corp. Get to know what they're all about, and they will do the same. We like new members who talk and get to know people, and will answer questions so we know them better. BTW my corp is in my sig...(shameless plug)
