a) The problem is a lack of quality OPs. When the OP is quality (or at least an exceptional troll) at least some proper discussion emerges.
b) I also have no idea what good OPs should be about given all the other forums.
c) The upside is that a lot of the crap gets caught by general, whereas if it was (say) removed, it would pass through to all the other fora. Consider it a spam filter.
d) A lot of people Some people I enjoy this spam filter, so hands off.
e) That last one was a lie, higher quality would be nice
f) Maybe they move so many threads to remind people there is more to the EVE-O Fora than GD? I tend to forget that.

Granted if that post more clearly stated it was isk donations for a public service it was seeking I see no problem with it, since it's hardly a commercial purpose.

The problem with all of THAT is that once a proper discussion emerges, a moderator shuffles said discussion off to another forum, (Ideas, Ships & Modules, etc).

The problem with all of THAT is that once a proper discussion emerges, a moderator shuffles said discussion off to another forum, (Ideas, Ships & Modules, etc).

General Discussion is the most entertaining channel on the forum.
Dont make the mistake of thinking that just because you close a channel, people with "smartass remarks" (which I do enjoy reading myself, but we are all different) will go away. They will go post in other channels and disturb you there instead.
Stay away from General Discussion if you dont like it. Its easy. If it sucks so much, why read it? If you have specialized channels for everything, why are you in this channel?
This goes for all whiners. Why is General Discussion one of the most active channels on this board if people dont like it? Here's why... most do like it. Most do like a little fun comments here and there and are capable of still having a discussion.
You dont have to agree with me of course, Im just saying... I think lots of people enjoy this channel the way it is, and there are plenty of other channels if you want to talk about something specific. Problem is, those channels dont get as much posts or comments. Why? Because they are not frequently visited. Why? Because they are not as much fun or interesting.
