Ticondrius Southern Cross Alliance	Posted - 2008.12.03 11:13:00 - [1] I come here to read and participate because it's probably the most active of the eve-o forums. But like others have pointed out, topic subject quality and post quality has taken a serious dive off the deep end since I last played over a year ago. I see many many troll topics, to the point of it being a plague of memes. I see a LOT of whining, to the point that there needs to be a forum for it IMO. I see discussions about ships and skills, which usually get moved off to where they belong. I only see the _OCCASIONAL_ true general topic. What's happened to my game? Where did the friendly chatty Oveur, TomB, Hammer, and the rest go? Going on Oveur's post, the declining IQ of the community in this forum drove him off, which is of course not something he could diplomatically say. So, back to the source of the topic...what qualifies as general discussion anymore? We have so many 'specialized' forums now that nearly anything that ISN'T whining or trolling belongs elsewhere. Somewhere along the way, we or CCP have made the fatal mistake of micro-splitting the forums so that discussions about different things no longer overlap in general where they once did. When a quality post is made though, people do reply. General Discussion is not for topic specific things that are covered in other threads.

Yes, that ENN thread is a prime example of something that does not belong in the General Board therefore it earns a smartass comment.

It used to be full of the things you find in CAOD now...then the CAOD was not so much added as it was enforced...and that type of topic is gone from General. Some of those topics were posted by alts or political trolls. Now those were funny. Also, the Dev's used to drop in at least 1-2 times a week and super-post on almost everything in the first page or two. Some of those were useful, informative, or outright funny. It's sad that they felt handicapped in posting because of who they are, and that this simple fact is what made them so welcome. ApaKaka Lone Starr Corporation	Posted - 2008.12.03 11:32:00 - [11] There are still gems in General, so I would not call it a complete waste. I love threads where people go "Look what I made" and there's a picture of a rude word made with cans in space or whatever. Threads about EVE-related sculptures, models, images etc people make are also gems that belong in this forum. TBH, nerf/whine/balance stuff should go into GameDev/Features&Ideas forums and maybe the GM's can enforce that more forcefully now also since I see a lot of DEV threadkilling/moving on the forums today anyway.

Hopefully this will help some over time. EDIT: The mods also seem to rather good at locking threads that are lacking content. Granted if that post more clearly stated it was isk donations for a public service it was seeking I see no problem with it, since it's hardly a commercial purpose. If it was there are many a board here that should be shut down completely since their whole purpose revolves around isk making. Again that rule deals with real money, not isk. Same number of trolls,same number of memes. less blue robot jokes or talk about some hippo guy i think. but still the same ol stuff. now as for the splitting of hairs when it comes to topics, its insane. some threads survive for weeks in general but others last a few minutes before being relocated to some obscure area of the forum. basically if its not general, its obscure. I'd like to see some numbers on the various areas of the forum to get an idea of whats going on. id guess most just hit up general discussion then leave. IF theres anything worthwhile going on in here, its trolled to death. Basically if its troll filled, its allowed to live in general. if its not and people are actually "discussing" its moved to another area of the forum because we can't have that in general discussion.
