Edited by: Akira Na''Reece on 04/12/2008 16:14:14 So, we all no that solo PVP isn't what it used to be, but, if you were going solo, what would you be flying? Why? What would your choice targets be?
Hmm I know my sec status looks bad, but I can assure you...

You Really need to be more specific. Solo PvP in Faction Warfare is different than Solo PvP as Pirate (More options TBH)or soloing in 0.0. ---------------------------------------- Happiness is a Wet Pod

I love flying frig sized ships. Most of the time I solo in my Taranis and have a lot of fun, no matter if I get killed or I kill someone. Replacement costs are moderate and survivability is quite good as long as you choose your targets wisely.
Might also try in cheap T1 cruisers as they seem to get out of gate camps easier now.
My opinion is purely personal and not related to my alliance |

LOL Nice. Forgive the vague question, I wasn't really asking for advice, just wondering what people generally pick. Killing time at work on the only recently accessible Eve forums!

Doesn't really matter what you fly in the cruiser and below category, if you have more midslots than the enemy you win so no "best of".
Word of caution though; solo PvP is hard to find and what looks like a yummy victim is most likely a bait ship

The pilgrim, youre free to move almost anywhere with it, it does good damage and with its nos breaks any tanks - even drake tanks fall quickly as they have no cap left to run hardeners. It kills any non special fitted ship 1v1.

What kind of pilot would be flying his drake with hardeners for PvP...
Okay okay... there's enough of them out there...

As a Gallente pilot, my choices right now would be Taranis, Ishkur, Thorax, or Vexor.

All of them. I hear MWD/point/web/LSE/2x Invuln is a good drake config and I hear invulns sort of need cap. __________________________________

Edited by: Merin Ryskin on 05/12/2008 09:44:27 If I were to (for some odd reason) try solo PvP, I'd use a pulse-fit Phantasm, and go after anything slower than me. Cruisers, BCs, battleships, as long as it can't go 1400m/s, bring it on. It's like a Zealot, except even better.
Oh wait, that's what I do fly. -----------

For Gallente the Ishtar is the bomb but ridiculously expensive for solo (expect losses) plus its a blob magnet.
Thorax and vexor are fun and sensor boosted myrm is good for catching cruisers on gates but a little slow and easy to die in if your not careful (another blob magnet).
The Ishkur is awesome now but you have to find targets at belts.
Thorax was my fav cheap ship before the patch but im not so sure about its ability to engage and kill AF's now

If I wanted to fly something cheap and effective I'd take a plated rupture over almost anything else. Mind you I don't like to fly frigates and there are some good options there like punisher.

Gank Hurricane is nice. Bit of ECCM, enough damage and EHP to kill something expensive before you pop if you get blobbed. Warriors and assault launchers for anti-frig.

Myrm; sensor booster, dual injected, dual reps, has netting me Tons of kills in lowsec, and can easily tank sentries and target.
Dommy is a bigger myrm with more drones.

1. Enyo!
The sheer speed and dps of the thing is usually enough to scare/shock opponents into letting me get close enough. That coupled with a tiny frig hull means I can jump through most camps unscathed.
2. Megathron Simply a monster pvp boat and a classic pirate ship. enough dps to make anything wince, enough tank to take one of them with you, and a dronebay most other races can only dream about.

I was pondering new roaming options while my 'net was down for repair and I did a bunch of EFT setups just to see what had the best survivability versus damage output (yes, damage factors more than just 'output', granted).
Pilgrim had the best versatility with its drones and cloak, but drone DPS (using mediums) was only about 260-300. Without a ball-&-chain (1600mm plate) it only had 7-8k EHP. Definately a ship for 'choosing targets carefully' (yet you killed a vargur during a 4v1 fight! Amazing).
For roaming DPS about the best two ships I could set up were the Taranis and Sabre for cost/loss analysis. Both could push well over 300 DPS and the Taranis had a miniscule sig. AC Rupture/Muninn or Pulse Zealot for the glass cannon gankship.
Interestingly the Lachesis/Arazu look decent as well, though paper tanks. Damage output is pretty close to the Amarr recons, and it can shut down MWDs from 20km and keep a point on out to almost 50km. With unbonused tracking disruptors it can keep a MWD ship on slow mode and stay out of damped down close-in weapons range. They lack the ability to bust a solid tank, however, passive or active.
The unfortunate thing about all of the cruisers is their abysmal AB speeds (500 for the cruisers, 1k for the Frigs/Dessies, stabber can pull 1k tho and has a very small sig - slightly better DPS than recons).
With the new reliance on tracking disruptors, how do turret based ships deal with this?
