And now the GMs warn me ingame! I thought scamming is an accepted way of playing!
Why don't they give a clear statement, I was shocked by the GM mail warning me. |

sorry for your loss but does no one inspect the merchandise of an escrow? be nice if they did, then we could get rid of all the junk in escrow and maybe see something useful.

Ok thats a valid point, but then you'll also have to warn the guys spamming the escrow with their 50 items of the same blueprint copy.
btw...nobody bought anything, so no losses. |

1. I thought this quote was hilarious.
2. I suspect there was some pretty massive spamming going on if you spent an hour straight making escrows...

Well then they should tell me not to spam. It was only 15 to 20 escrows. And it takes time if think well about how to scam right.
I'd like a clear statement if its forbidden to make escrow scams or spams. |

I actually have to agree with the scammer here, as IIRC devs/mods/GMs have said that scamming was okay, caveat emptor sort of thing goin down with escrow. Though, I could see the problem if the scam was spammed, but IMO thats more of an indication that the escrow system is being overhauled. _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |

I would be very happy to see this if I thought it was going to be a GM trend.
As it is though I'm not happy about it. Officially the GMs have indicated that fraud is ok, and yet here we have an example of a GM cleaning a few things up.
Thats not at all what I want. What I want is for escrow to become completely unusable to the point that the screams from the masses of players force them to say officially that scamming in this way (lying about what item you are selling) is fraud, and that you are liable and will be leveled a hefty fine (isk or temporary ban) if you are caught.
As far as price scams, thats not fraud imo. I don't like price scammers either, but when you come right down to it you got the item you paid for. It's just that it's a nice "designer" item. If you don't want those then you need to double check the prices.

Well maybe some common sense can be applied to scamming.
Clearly filling escrow up with scams is tearing a large one and has been considered so.
There are many scams out there which take a bit more effort and thought and are not prone to intervention.
No need to list them here, coz the board is full of information concerning how people are scamming or being scammed.
The problem of the escrow market has been highlighted on a number of threads.
Lets have some more reports of escrow scams and clean this bit of the game up and have some more entertaining and intelligent scams.
IRL the more stupid the criminal the more likely he is going to be caught and punished. |

What I don't like about this is the inconsistency. There are loads of scams up there and you only need a few seconds to check what you are buying, so why does one person get hammered and not everyone.
I like to have a laugh at what people are trying to offload as I browse through escrow. I find it more annoying to page down past those 35 entries from one person all selling the same thing at the same price than I do the 75Mil shuttle ones.
Can we please stop asking CCP to code things into the game to protect us from our own stupidity?
Also can we please have a consistent answer from CCP about these often debated topics. As far as I understood it: missnamed escrows, market entries at over 1000 times the average price and taking stuff from a can in space were (at the moment) not exploits but part of the game.

I would like CCP to code a few things to protect me from the stupidity of others.
As Tech2 Shoppe said, nobody bought anything, so the only fool was the person filling up the escrow market with worthless junk expecting someone to buy it.
All it achieved was to mess up an area of the game which can easily be solved by removing the rubbish.
It was removed. As ever it is the idiot minority which stuff the game for the responsible majority. |

Personally I don't mind scamming in the game much, but then I have no money and rarely use escrow so my opinion is irrelevant. Btw people you considered a 'bank alt' I saw it another thread (sorry forgot who) but basically you give all you 'big' money tens and hundreds of millions to the alts and only transfer enough for each purchase. This is meant for overpriced shuttles and the like but still handy to have. ------------------------------------------------ I've always owned Kehmor, cheap as chips off Ebay

It was almost amusing going through escrow, "inspecting" items and comparing what was actually offereed versus the player entered description.
Amarr Shuttles for 500,000 isk
Cheap mex for 20isk each..
