Its because CCP loves the caldari. And thats because everyone and his mother is Deteis...
Anyway, I like the Amarr interceptors better... there are some serious noobs flying around in crows nowadays because they think its uber. Its just like other interceptors, except it does tons of damage with rockets... but you need skills to fly any ship, and if you're not good enough, you will die.

There are a lot of other posts regarding this where the same issue has been brought up from different perspectives, in this forum and in Factories. The fact these things are a pain to build, because sourcing the parts and getting them to one place is a nightmare in logistics. That's before even touching on the issue of the price parts can go for...if mission runners ask ridiculous prices for their parts, tech II producers either pay them, or don't produce. I'm in the "don't produce" category.
In the case of the Caldari interceptors in particular, they use Graviton Reactors in their production (and since a few days ago, these parts are also subject to waste and production efficiency skill as the minerals are), which can sell from 40k-140k. At their base value of 20k, they would add 600k to the Crow's build cost. At 100k/unit, that price is 3mill, from one part alone. If parts were more available, and priced fairly & competitively, instead of ridiculously, then I'd be happy to build Crows. My first (and only) major production run went for 7.5mill a ship. Now building them for sale is impossible at a reasonable cost, so I build to order only (see sig for details), which is still cheaper for the buyer by several mill, but means a little work.

Originally by: Ithildin The side that win a battle would have lost much, much, less (there are players on both sides, so that's not good).
Actually it seems a good idea to me.
In the current climate of 100% insurance, its very hard to inflict heavy financial loss on your enemy. This way it would be easier to do so as knowing if you win you can profit from the spoils encourages people to take greater risks to win, also the disparity between winner and looser is magnified.
After all, there are alot situations where hanging around to bring in indies to collect stuff or domis to use loads of salvage drones after a large battle is a big risk in and of itself!

This high price is why I have a horde of Graviton Reactor units hidden in my secret spots till I finish training the skills for it.
