can anyone help me with a setup? i haven't tested to see how much a tractor will speed things up yet, though thanks Touch not the Cat bot a Glove |

Edited by: Siigari Kitawa on 05/12/2008 11:50:13 Well, if you're going for a full belt money making fit, go with something like this:
[Dominix, Pure Ratting Domi] Large Armor Repairer II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Damage Control II Signal Amplifier II
100MN MicroWarpdrive II Stasis Webifier II Stasis Webifier II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I Salvager I Salvager I
[empty rig slot] [empty rig slot] [empty rig slot]
Ogre II x7 Warrior II x5 Wasp EC-900 x5 Hammerhead II x5
This is a good belt-ratting setup for pure ratting. But that's all. It has defense but no offense in case you get attacked in a belt.
Here is one for ratting in hostile space:
[Dominix, Road-Trip Ratting] Large Armor Repairer II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Damage Control II
100MN MicroWarpdrive II Stasis Webifier II Warp Disruptor II Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800 ECCM - Magnetometric II
Heavy Unstable Power Fluctuator I Heavy Unstable Power Fluctuator I Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I Salvager I Salvager I
Trimark Armor Pump I Trimark Armor Pump I Trimark Armor Pump I
Ogre II x5 Hobgoblin II x5 Wasp EC-900 x5 Hammerhead II x5
This one offers you balance on PVE and gives you a chance to defend yourself in the event of attack. I personally have been caught with my pants down ratting in a Dominix (albiet long, long ago) and wish I would have had the smarts to fit some defense.
This is probably your best bet. Lots of HP and a rep means you can take the pain and if you get jumped, you can live to talk about it. Note though that this setup sacrifices some of your much needed cargo space for approximately 5 or so cap boosters (which is likely about as many as you'd have a chance to use before you get jumped.)

Hib..
Well what I would use is this
HIGHSLOT 5 Dual 250MM T2 1 Tractor Beam T1
MEDSLOT 1 100MN AB T2 1 Fleeting Web 3 Cap Recharger T2
LOWSLOT 1 Large Armor Repair T2 1 Thermic T2 Hardener 1 Kinetic T2 Hardener 1 Capacitor Power Relay T2 3 Magnetic Field Stab T2..
RIGS 2 Cap Control C. 1 Aux Nano P.
5 Heavy Drones T2, 5 Medium Drones T2, 5 Light Drones T2..
With my skills I Run everything 24/7 except the 100MN AB T2, and I get 822 dps out of this.. The Tank isnt much but its not a problem, But if it is you can take one of the MFS T2 of and put another hardener....
And just watch local all time and if you see hostile in local, Warp to a safe spot or dock in station..

Get Sentry Drone 4 or 5.
Highs: 1x CLOAKING DEVICE At least 1 heavy neut Whatever
Mids: 2x Omni Directional Tracking Link 2x Cap Recharger II 1x 100mn AB II or MWD II
Lows: 2x LAR II 2x Hardener Whatever...Cap Relays...whatever
Drones? A set of light (hob's usually), a set of mediums (hammerhead works), and then two sets of Sentry drones. Or 1 set of sentry (like Warden) and 1 set of heavies if you really want. I prefer 2 diff sets of sentries.
For Gurista I have a set of Warden and a set of Garde. I like me some Warden. I also have the 2x sentry drone damage rigs. BS 4, Sentry 5, and all that good stuff is delicious.
I hate heavy drones for ratting. I prefer sitting at speed 0, grabbing the aggro, deploy drones and eat burger king. I don't bother looting either. Objective is to get the belts with triple awesome BS spawns and then just go to the next belt. Have a newb corp member loot for you. They need the isk and your OCD demands clean sparkly belts. ---

Just.. no. Aligning like a brick when you're trying to run away from a suddenly hostile local = bad idea, and the align time will infringe on your isk/hour. A better idea is to keep an eye on local and stay aligned if you're in a BS.
Optimally, use an Ishtar for ratting in hostile space. Never fit 3 plates and 3 trimarks on a ratting bs.

Just... you don't know what you're talking about. First of all the Dominix has a ******ed align time anyway, second of all fitting plates/trimarks to a battleship does not hurt its agility significantly enough to make it a problem and finally mwd/align is always 10 seconds or better.
It's a good fit. With the addition of a cloak it can go anywhere.

Actually I have to agree with the poster you quoted, three 1600mm's and three trimarks are going to **** you up. If anything, you should never EVER be caught in a belt (I can align and warp an abaddon before an interceptor warps on top of me in the FIRST belt of the system), so focus on the task at hand, ratting and money-making.

thanks for the input i like the idea of having a large buffer of armour, but i dont have the money for the rigs atm and being able to run slower is not too appealing but heres what i have come up with so far, mind you i still have 5 days on hull upgrades 5 so i can't test it just yet
[0.0 Ratting Domi] HIGH: 1 x Prototype Cloaking device //so i can run to a safespot and hide 2 x Salvagers 1 x Tractor beam 2 x Large neuts //im not sure if these help against the rats tank or not MEDIUM: 1 x Large MWD //so i can get to the loot faster and hopefully get away from baddies 5 x i dunno, a full rack of cap rechargers or cap batteries dont seem to help too much LOW: 1 x LAR 2 1 x 1600 rolled tungsten 2 x EANM 2 1 x DCU 2 1 x Active thermic hardener 1 x nanofiber //so i can hopefully counteract the plate
DRONES: not yet at tech two's so ill just use ogres for the bs's and warriors for the little guys
what do you think? assuming i jump in the belt and aggro the rats then align to station/safespot should i be good?

Highs: 1 Drone Link Augmentator salvagers, tractors, whatever
Meds: 5 x Cap Recharger II 100MN Afterburner
Lows: LAR II DCU II 3 Racial Hardeners (for Sansha I use 2 EM, 1 Thermal) 2 x Capacitor Power Relay
5 x Sentry Drones 5 x Medium Drones 5 x Small Drones
As your cap skills improve you can swap cap rechargers with Omnidirectional Tracking Links to improve your drone DPS. --- "I live in Los Angeles, where driving is non-consensual pvp" - Arric Rohr |

- I would not fit an MWD for ratting, its cap penalty will kill your tank stability. - If you drone range is less than 50km, fit a Drone Link Augmentator. There are rats such as Sansha Dark Lords that sit at 49km - Train for Sentry Drones as soon as you can.
With my Domi I just warp to belt, align to station and wait for aggro. Then deploy Sentries and engage. If small rat scram you, recall sentries and deploy smalls to send them packing.

I run this. It's cap stable with one LAR running, but can vastly increase the tank if you get jumped. Also good for mining support:
High: 2x heavy unstable power fluctuators 1x med remote armor rep 1x large shield transfer 1x tractor 1x salvager
4x cap recharger IIs 1x heavy cap booster (w 800s)
3x EANM II 1x t2 rat armor hard 2x LAR II
Aux nano pump x1 (I haven't put any more rigs on but you could put a CCC on and then put a point or web in place of a cap recharger)
6x Ogre IIs 5x hammerhead IIs 5x hobgoblin IIs 5x warrior IIs
Can't use t2 sentries yet but will put those in when I can.
I like the remote reps because if you're ratting a distance away from a station you can rep your drones up if they get damaged. Plus you make pretty good mining support with the reppers. Also I rat in fairly hostile space hence the cap booster and the second LAR II. If I get jumped I can usually fight my way out with the neuts and reppers.
