EVE sounds have been nerfed in Apoc.
Even with sounds all the way turned up, and computer volume turned up a huge amount, all the sounds in space are hardly noticeable unless zoomed in to your ship all the way. Even then, you can't hear any sounds when you are being fired upon by NPC Rats.
Then you go back into station and sounds are so loud your ears bleed.
You removed the selection of sound output where I could select between my speakers or headphones, too. That is hugely annoying, also.
EVE is now MUCH less enjoyable than it was before Apoc.

Id have to agree - pls bring the correct sounds back , i went on a mission last night and was greeted with silence, hardly inspiring to ever go on a mission again. Sound fx in a game makes the game or breaks the game, i expect new players will play and think great graphics - but the sound sux.
CCP When this was reported in the dev blog i was so excited , after all the sounds were a bit old stile from the 16 bit era. since the patch its like gone backwards to the 8 bit era

Well, I for one hope that the new sound design is intentional and that you plan to keep it.
Apart from a few issues (station level, maybe some weapons level and effects) the new scheme is, in my opinion, much much better. Subtle and interesting soundscape now gives better immersion and suits the realism of the graphics better. I always found sounds in EVE a bit cartoonish. The new design is cinematic and very well done, I think.
Can't wait to Ambulation and entering a huge busy station interior. The contrast to the muffled in-pod soundscape could be fantastic!

Edited by: olo VonBorg on 18/03/2009 11:30:32 Sound FX have gone down the drain in most cases (Salvager sample = !) The music did go well with the previous client- but where are the updates ?
Either the new songs have made it into the playlist but are simply not sticking out or there are none.
IŠve got a good lot of respect for X for all the work over the years - but this soundtrack is DATED -and so is the Sound engine. The Mods people were mentioning earlier would indeed feel adequate era-wise ( I can run that on my amiga!)
Not trying to put down the artist- but his presentation and the lack of innovation in the eve sound. And asking me to do better- well, thereŠs finally some skill IŠve got at level 5 ;) Ready to compete any day

I've played EVE since the beginning of 2004 and i still think the music is fine - not outdated in my opinion. Of course, that's just my own opinion...
The "new songs" came out in Quantum Rise. I don't think any were planned for Apocrypha, though i wish they were. The new ones in Quantum Rise were:
Close To A Holy Place It Ends Here Learning From The Past New Moon Point Of No Return Precious Ore Seek And You Shall Find Shifting The Balance Of Power Theme From Jita Where Evil Lurks
They're in the game atm, you just might not have noticed.
I do agree about the sound effects not being as good since the classic client. The gate jumping is growing on me, but sounds idealistic and not powerful enough to even get you across grid, haha. The one i'm most disappointed with is the capital artillery. It now sounds very weak, but should sound like it's raining hell upon its target.

The thing with EVE music is that you RARELY hear combat music. And only for like 5 minutes and that's it!
The ambient music makes you sleepy.
WHY oh why can't we play combat music when we want to. There are times when we want to hear them regardless of whether we're in combat or not, yknow

Edited by: Emerald Isle on 27/05/2009 16:52:47 I'm sorry if I've missed this information elsewhere, but when will this 'premium download' be available? Any help would be appreciated as I love the music and it needs to be played oog also!
Thanks for any help in advance.

I only turn music on for missions, since there are some really cool tracks. All the other stuff while not in a mission makes me very sleepy, so i just turn it off.
To be honest, i don't like 95% of the ambient music tracks.

I would like to see a poll, official numbers or whatever that confirms your comment about EvE music.
If i think about mmos in general then i can guaranteene you that EvE music and it's current "Sound Engine" are far far away of being "The Best". The tracks are outdated, ambient basically doesn't exist, sound engine is broken, you don't hear half of the sounds. Sound crackles, makes weird noises since last patch, etc. etc...

*Yawn*
Eve music to my taste was listen once, ignore it in favor of music I like via WinAmp.
I've yet to bother leaving the music on in ANY game I've played more than a week though, so Eve isn't noticeably worse than anything else out there in that respect.
