Want to have a DVD-Video/DVD-Audio with highqualitysound of eve!
I hear EVEsound (nearly) every day through my mp3-player (converted oggs from the game). Quality is not as high as the original oggfiles, but I can listen them everytime everywhere. :) What should I do, what should I say? Choose Your weapon, TIME TO PLAY! |

and also would it be possible to have an in-game audio option to have everything muted except the eve music? Currently the best you can do is turn off UI sound, but thruster noises like changing direction and warping can still be heard.
edit:
you can also hear turret sound effects with only master volume and music volume on

I hope the sound update will be as impressive as the ongoing graphical overhaul. ----------------------------------------------------------------------

EVE Rock 05. I do believe it's "Yell back when I say YO!" At least that's what I hear.
Could be. I dunno. I just listened to it with headphones on real loud to get the details and there's definitely more syllabales than that. *shrugs* ---

I've been hoping they'd make it so that in combat, it plays appropriate music - all of Eve's tracks are excellent (Doomed forever is my fave) but in battle I like to knock it up a notch - bam! (Something with a military feel would be great!)

a WTF blog ...
I mean most people have sound muted for voice comms. And an easy way to play custom music would be nice. Keep your 5.1 until the sound engine in EVE is fixed (I want to selectively mute or silence the warping and gate sounds).
sorry for the rant, but the blog was seriously sub-zero value ... |

Awesome, 5.1 tunes!
Guess what though, I'll be taking them out of the client to run through MPC (Media Player Classic...it's not WMP).
Yes, that's right, I refuse to use EVE's sound system!
Why? 2 words: warping sound. My starship is NOT a fighter jet. Also, a great deal of EVE'S SFX are not normalized, and, like the warp sound, are incredibly unpleasant to hear.
If you can't fix the sounds, I want: option to disable warping sounds. option to disable gate fire sound. option to disable explosion sounds. option to disable station sounds.... well, how about a means to selectively disable any sound group?
The real problem Audio has on performance is the reliance of software to process sound. We do it in our programming, we do it in the actual hardware (integrated audio and most audio boards...). I'd like to see an option, or at least the ability, for EVE to recognize and fully utilize the few remaining hardware audio cards still out there, like: my card. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- PROPOSAL: Chaos Incarnate's Face MMORPG: Many Men Online Role Playing Girls |

Here's a suggestion for you Fallout (and your alts, Fallout II and III)...
Talk to the devs and implement a specific 'music' folder within the CCP archive where the in-game music is stored, and enable the client to read popular audio-media files (MP3, OGG, whatever), allowing players to put their own music files into that folder so that the game will call them up in the jukebox so that we can enjoy our own music while the client is active. -
Life is pain...anyone who says differently is selling something. |

Someone actually developed a third party program for this ages ago it was not quite that easy and may have required a particular format but im sure i still have it somewhere on my old desptop (which is currently several hundred miles away).
However i like the music in eve and im sure the new tracks will be great but im also one of the many people that has music turned off in eve for many reasons for a start i run multiple clients simultaniously but I am also too lazy to try and extract the eve music. I agree with others having an easy way to get our hands on your music to play using other apps would greatly increase your listener base and the apreciation of you music while i know this removes having music tied into ingame activitys it is better than people not hearing it at all.

To be honest my greatest concern with regard to EVE music is not the EVE music or the sounds themselves, but the sound engine.
Will we also get a new, faster and more stable sound engine?
It won't be of much use if the sounds are 5.1 but still crash the client

I'm happy to see the sound isn't being ignored any longer, but I do have to ask..
Please can we have a Jukebox that you can actually delete/ignore tracks with?
There are three very particular tracks that drive me spare everytime I hear the first few notes, and I have to find the jukbox under all the other windows to quickly click next track. It gets annoying after a few years.

At last, great news. I am sure I wasn't the only one disappointed at the lack of sound upgrade to complement the graphics update that came with Trinity. New music tracks and premium sound certainly sounds awesome. Being one of the bigger issues in my book however I won't be pleased until every weapontype, modules and more have their unique premium sound effects making it almost possible to play the game blind and know what is happening

Actually, a lot of artists are using Reason... The latest Prodigy album, for example, was also completely done in Reason. I've been using Reason myself ever since the beta, and I wouldn't want to switch to anything else, not even hardsynths.

As a bigfan of the EVE Soundtrack I'm thinking about getting a 5.1 system to enjoy this as I'm sure the immersion will be awesome..
I also have a suggestion when it comes to EVE Voice and 5.1.. It would be cool if you could use like the 3 front speakers for 3 different people speaking.. I was first thinking you could use all different speakers but that wouldn't be any good because you'll need a directional mic if you want to use speakers + microphone.. Which also means you could use the 2 speakers behind you for music and ingame sounds and the 3 in front for EVE Voice.

A 5.1 soundtrack would be awesome. I love 5.1 music, it's just not as abundant as regular music :/
I wish they would upgrade the rest of the audio as well, just start over with new ones rather than working with the old ones. I hate hearing the cloaking and uncloaking noise...
As for those of you using 5.1 speakers right now and don't want to hear a lot of the crap that's way louder than anything else, try turning down your front center speaker. Most of the overly loud sounds are funneled into it.
Oh, and bring back Stellar Shadows!!! --------------------------- I have to make my own sig break? WTF? These forums suck CCP, fix 'em or get something better... I'm tired of reading Khraunus' sig every single time I read one of his |

Adaptive music would be incredible. Imagine war-like powerful music on entering a fleet engagement, something airy and spooky when jumping into a completely empty 0.0 system, something melancholic on being podded.
The adaptive idea is well worth looking at. Good job on all the work already done. Also, reason kicks ass, amirite?

I hope they will add more sound tracks to the download section.
I love to listen to the music of EVE.
And indeed there must be an option added so that you can only listen to the music with out the rest of the remaining sound, it would be awesome.
I got the music that is available already on my mobile and it relaxes me soo much when i listen to it :P
Good work Guys, keep up the good work on the music.

Edited by: Ariane VoxDei on 20/01/2009 13:45:18 Edited by: Ariane VoxDei on 20/01/2009 13:42:28 Hey RealX / CCP.
Since you appear to do your music in synth/sample tools, have you considered making for example ST3 exports available?
For those not familiar with it, I am referring to Scream Tracker 3 and similar "modplayers". Personally i use MODPLUG 1.46 for playback, as it is the only decent free player I could find that works on XP/NT/VISTA when you can't get the old DOS-based players to work. Great app for us oldschoolers who where downloading music demos in the 90ies on bulletin boards with our 14.4kbps modems.
Also, like someone else suggested, I would like to support the idea of being able to edit the ingame playlist. All too often i find myself stopping the music because it turn up some of the tracks that i *really* do not want to listen to. Initially a simple checkbox toggle for each entry would be sufficient, though i would warmly welcome the ability to load up mods, maybe from a fixed predefined path (i understand the need for some to not leave this wide open). The ability to set the path in the INI file would be preferable though.
Edit: oooooor, simply plug through to an external player - you would need to give us a way to extract the music from the game files though - in the same way that you can easily excert basic control over for example winamp by running shell commands at it.

I hope the 5.1 stuff will work through my S/PDIF digital output!
Unfortunately my sound card does not support real-time encoding of 5.1, also referred to as Dolby Digital Live or DTS Connect. Very few do, actually.
