Everything you buy was made by a player.
If you sell then another players buys it.
This is an in depth mmo and you are not alone no matter how much you seclude yourself.
That was kinda exactly what i was pointing out.
I play EVE, because i like the universe, the market, making things, destroying things when i feel like it, discovering things and because of the odd PvP, this is what makes an MMO great in my book.
You CAN, but you don;t HAVE to.
You can mine solo, You can run mission solo, You can manufacture solo, you can scan wormholes solo and you can then sell your stuff to other players who may or may not do the very same things (either solo or as a team).
If EVE expands much further, you will at some point be forced to do things as a team and when that point is reached, the people who have many "friends" will always outgun the people who actually have real life skill ( how good they are at playing the game, so not the skillpoints within the game).
I watched some videos on Youtube a while ago, where a pretty darn large group of players, managed to gank a Titan (which was in the days when they were still quite an achievement to have).
You wouldn't believe how happy those guys were when it finally popped, whereas i think that, ganking a Titan with the help of a billion gazillion friends is not an achievement at all, it's just silly, just like China invading Iceland, would that be an achievement if they succeeded?
i used to play WoW (yes i know I'm an idiot, but hey, i was young once too), but that was back in the day when we arranged massive 200 vs 200 fights via the forums.
That was seriously cool, until we got to the point where the horde heavily outnumbered the alliance.
You couldn't visit the horde capital as an alliance player anymore, because at any given time, there would be hundreds of horde standing right in front of the gate, hoping to get that killing blow on you, at the same time, when the horde decided they should attack stormwind (it's the alliance capital), they would just do so in large numbers and kill everything in their path.
Ok, maybe those last 2 bits aren't all that relevant, but i hope you get my point.
