Alternate characters needs to be removed from the game.
But then : "Whoua, whoua I trained 2 alts and my main, lost their SP"
If CCP make a feature to transfet the SP from the Alts to their main, then I foresee players with multiple accounts using the character transfert feature to... you know.
Alts are bad, but removing them at this point is far from simple.

Ive gotta totally agree. In this game where things can admittedly get a touch boring at times for those 0.0 folks alts are great. They give you value for your subscription. I have my main on 10 mil sp's and a mil on both my alts to make them useful. One is a frigate fighter the other is for empire hauling and sales.
I play each as an individual in their own right with their own roles and motivation.
Yes posting flames as an alt is lame, and yes all the negative aspects people have brought up are fine. But in no way should they be banned or taken out. Not at least without CCP reducing the subcription to a 1/3 of the present amount.
Alts = Value for your cash.

On the subject of ganking newbie corp members. In a roleplaying context why shouldnt 0.0 sec alliances be ultra suspicious of people in these corps. The learning schools take in anyone and cannot be held to account under the present war system for the crimes of their members.
Its not as if were going to say..."Whoa this guy is in the Federal Navy Academy he must be new lets give him a break and let him roam freely through our front lines and mining systems" they get the same treatment as any other unknown corp tesspassing and are asked to leave or killed on sight.
Now admittedly said member of newbie corp may have a harder time asking for free passage within alliance space. But again this relates to the open access to newbie corps and total lack of accountability for their members actions. I have had friends many times ganked in empire by newbie corp pirates, using the war embargo as a shield.
Its your choice to stay in a npc corp and frankly its up to you to live with those concequences and thereby the impressions other people will have of you.

no they don't. any player can enter any system in a pod. only evil players in ships get their ship killed...

Ive had 2 mains on one account since day one, couse i don't make it a secret either. My one guy researches and manufactures and the other does npc missions. It saves me time because both have their own ships rigged and ready. I also get to see the market in two distant regions just by relogging which is very handy. I don't and never have ripped anyone off in this game, so not all alts are bad.

I have lots of other legitimate reasons for doing the above too .

As a professional alt I find myself insulted by the accusation that I pirate, steal ore, scam, spy, forum ***** and partake in other illegal activities entirely because my main cannot be found.
I have lots of other legitimate reasons for doing the above too .

ab 1
No clone costs and shuttles are cheap.
Actually in one of the how-to docs located in eve's DB they actually suggest the use of an alt to determine who is camping a gate etc...

Well, i don't think having alts is a totally bad thing, IF the alt is actually an alternative character. I mean, if you're in one side of the galaxy and want to have another character to try other stuff, like being a rat, or being a producer if your main was a rat or PVPer or something. Honestly i don't know how this could be achieved. I guess it's up to each one to decide what to do, the game allows it. I'm not that fond of alts, but they don't really bug me that much. Now smacktalking, that is boring. That should be adressed
