Alts are not evil, well maybe they are, but they are a necessery evil. Players with characters below -4 need them to travel in Empire space above .7. Also players who want to spy with no risk use them as well. Thats why your getting popped in .0!
So, are Alts bad? Thats left to the individual. Are they necessary? Absolutly!

Alts allow you to specialise skills, like i have 2 alts who just sit in space in 0.0 and mine arkonor when i need to build something. thats all they do. it keeps me from having to make 47 jumps a trip with my mains. I have two accounts using two comps so thats like 6 to manage. i have to have my own corporation just to keep up with stuff. The biggest pain is the inability to train more than 1 character at a time. I would pay extra for this service. Now im to the point where it takes weeks to train stuff and i feel like im not making any progress.
I have a character that is strictly minmatar trained from the ground up to take advantage of that races ships/gunnery etc. She can lay an A$$whooping in a rupture now and has 1/5th the skill points my mains have.

most people in 0.0 space in noob corps ARE alt spies, if not...kill them anyway
Originally by: Dao 2 i mean if everyone noes that u think all the alts that are sneaking around are the noob corp ones then they would just join some corp!!
to join a new corp would take more effort, and it just alot easier to stay in the noob corp, do whatever it is you wanted to do and then delete the alt

I guess Alt Characters have a place in the game. My the same as having an alias does in real life. But two things chap my hide;
1. The use of alts as scammers. These are the guys that come into the noob channel and start begging for isk. We had one guy asking for nearly an hour for cash, on the count of his ship being destroyed and he need the cash for a new one. His character was less than a day old.
2. The use of alts as recruiters. Yes there is a large number of new players that need guidance on where and how to join a corp and they do ask, and we point them in the proper direction. So when a Recruiter comes into the noob channel and spam's end on end with "everything for nothing" offers about their corp. It gets a wee bit repetative. For the rest of us, if we wanted to join a corp, we'd have done it ages ago mate.
3. The alt's as POSERS. You know these buggers as the ones that claim their "Main" is an ubber character with a zillion skill points and more corpse's in their hanger than Charles Manson's garage. It is hard to imagine that to be true, as they spend 4 to 6 hours a day as an alt, when they could be out raising Hell in 0.0 space for the shear bloody mindedness of it. I'm looking forward to such behavior myself.
I don't normally think of it as noob channel as much as I think of it as a freelance channel. There are a number of good and helpful players there and there are a number of those that indicate that junior highschool is out for the summer.
Cut us some slack please...
As for the context of the above post, not all noob corps are alts. Take half a moment and check to see what the player is flying and how long he's been logged on. That isn't absolute proof, but it could be taken as indicative.

FYI - I mine for the CA, not officially a member, trial member or anything. I sell my ores to a CA corp.
I cant get into CA because im too small.....
Allthough when fountain invaded last night i gave CA the headsup because these losers chased me all over the sector i was ninja mining and tried stupid noob tricks like getting me to gang with them....
I like the CA, would love to get official sanction but 1 man corps are not a real benefit. ----------------------------------------------- SAY NO TO SAFE SPOT REMOVALS! ----------------------------------------------- |

freelancers are wise enough not to go into claimed space and complain when they are killed

EVE accounts should be limited to 1 character. Alts are bad and should not be allowed at all. There is no point to having one to specialize, because of only being able to train one character at a time. The only use that comes from alts at all is scamming, metagaming, and exploiting. It should not be allowed. ------------
We come in peace. And tanks. |

My only alt is a Wallet. With the scams running in the market and in escrow, I keep less than 200K in my Main's wallet at any given time. This way I can't accidently buy the 1,000,000 isk shuttle... The limitations on training a single character at a time seems to keep the silliness to a minimum.

No way my friend.
I've an alt as hauler and have trained it that way. When i was minning in 0.0 i could bring 2 ships there, a miner and a Hauler. Without it i would never be able to mine in 0.0.
As you see it i'm not part of an alliance and asume of course that i'm always KOS
