Would be helpful if rules for Player corporation and Alliances were clarified. Eg. I noticed (Player Corporation) has been appended to some corporation names. Should (Player Alliance) also be appended?
Also, how will the evelopedia deal with common tickers and abbreviations, such as Goons for Goonswarm or BOB for Band of Brothers?
It would also be helpful if there was some API special tag that could be included to eg. display current member count, alliance numbers or other specific stats. (Basically more of the mixing in-game information with external).
While on that thought - how will you deal with player Biographies within the Wiki - will you expose and search on player names? Can the wiki become a useful place for stating about corp rip-off and scam individuals (if agreed/rated by more than eg. 10 players)?
Wonderful tool, with some rules!

All hail our new and much appreciated Evelopedia! It's great to have a system to share information on eve related subjects. As mentioned earlier by others, it's very nice to see this being available ahead of previously mentioned vague release dates. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

HI everyone,
i thought i would take this time to introduce myself for people who don't know me already and give thanks to those who have given us some good feedback so far.
My more commonly known name is Hutch, and i am the Vice Admiral of the YARR team helping run the EVEloepdia. Its been one wild ride so far for myself and the team, and we are really happy with how the launch has gone. Obviously there are issues and i think with any newly developed software there are things that can be improved.
We are always happy to hear what you would like improved, and always welcome constructive emails to [email protected]
We look forward to working with you all in the future and making this project a huge success. -------------------------------------------------------- ôWar is not the dreadful end to all things as mankind fears. Conflict brings balance to nature as it adapts, mutates, and transforms itself into something stronger than before. Mankind is the master of nature because we can choose those mutations on our own accord. We can accelerate the inevitable dominance of a species. Through war, we can make ourselves stronger at the time and place of our choosing. War is not hell, far from it. War is beautiful. War is divine |

Woot, it's here!
EDIT: What I would like to know, however, is why a page like this is approved.
I mean, apparently this was added by a Pandemic Legion member, but still, why? If this was flagged as "official/ingame alliance description", or in a subsection of "things others have said about PA" and linked to a reference, then it would be acceptable; but there is nothing else on the page but that one inflammatory, unreferenced statement.
I would like to respectfully request a higher standard of moderation especially when it comes to Player Alliances. If we want insults and flamewars, we go to CAOD; from the Evelopedia I expect more.
Probably because it's their alliance description in game.
Just guessing. __________________

I tinkered with the Wiki a bit. Seems pretty solid.
My only real suggestion would be to unlock user-created pages - the page shows right away but if you navigate away from it and come back to the new article, you can't edit it anymore because it's not approved. ... besides, I've said all I'm going to say. You're reading my sig now! Bwa!

The crappy default character which isnt your main defaults for editing. 2. background style tag is broken (color table broken due to black background?) 3. I copied pasted our corp page over from eve-history wiki and updated it, AND THE MOFO APPLICATION DELETED ALL MY MODIFICATIONS BECAUSE THE ARTICLE WASNT APPROVED YET.
Suggestion: Grand the original creator of a page at least 1 day so he can edit his stuff.

Edit: approve http://wiki.eveonline.com/wiki/HERO please so i can fix and update it (AGAIN!). Edit: ok wow approving was fast. Props. very frustrating though that every edit requires an approval, guess i should work with preview more (better). - - -

I have to say: eww. It's nice to have a wiki for Eve, but this one is poorly done and of limited use from what I've seen. Inaccurate and incomplete pages are locked as official content, preventing people from editing them to correct them and improve them, I haven't run into the problems with pages waiting to be approved being locked, but . . . for this to be decent, I think you need to remove the approval process and the locks on 'official content.'

I've found a bug -- reference to certain things such as 'Khanid,' 'Amarr,' ect, seem to be automatically wikified even when not appropriate. Shouldn't only the first mention be wikified? And I don't think this should be automatic, either, as even then you'll get it when it isn't appropriate.
I'm not certain, but it also seems like logging into Evelopedia keeps causing my default character on the forums to reset. Is there a specific place I should report bugs with Evelopedia?

How do you link to an entry in the item database? They don't show up as normal articles, even though they have the same URL format.
Edit:
Scratch out the above. It seems when you search for something in the item database, it takes you to a search results page that shows the item DB link, but attempting to create an article with that name instead just takes you to the item DB page.
I would suggest modifying the Wiki so searching for something in the item DB takes you straight to the page without an intervening search results page, which is just confusing.
Edit 2:
Attempting to edit an item page does not show the generated item info. Instead it takes you to the generic "You've followed a link to a page that doesn't exist yet." ... besides, I've said all I'm going to say. You're reading my sig now! Bwa!

You should make it possible to edit sections of articles alone, it would make it speedier and more convenient to add changes to longer articles.

Also, is it really necessary to lock down all non-official pages?
I just noticed I added a category to a page that already had one (because I'm a wiki noob ), and I can't fix it because I navigated away from the page and it won't let me edit the draft anymore. ... besides, I've said all I'm going to say. You're reading my sig now! Bwa!

Maybe that should just be "Official CCP pages are marked accordingly". Because CCP's official position on game documentation is that it's not necessarily correct, just because it's official, even if it's been in the documentation for years. Not to mention plenty of Dev's have answered questions incorrectly in the forums, not being quite as up to date with players about certain aspects.
Obviously marking pages as 'Official CCP pages' is important, but you can NEVER be sure they're correct.

Hello Everyone
Thank you for all the feedback you have been giving on the wiki. We are taking it all on board and running through the suggestions on improving the smooth running of the wiki. Naturally not every suggestion will be implemented, and those we do will take a little while to bring in.
If you have any wiki specific errors in content or bugs, please contact the team via the email link at the footer of the wiki itself and they will make sure that the right people are contacted to get it fixed.
The site is currently in Beta and so bear in mind we aren't sat twiddling our thumbs but packing an extra bang of awesomesauce behind the scenes. It was a matter of this way, or a great deal of 'we will release sooooon'.
Many of your suggestions are incredibly helpful and constructive feedback helps you and helps us, I just wanted to let you know we are taking note. This is a mere amoeba of what EVElopedia will become, our love and effort + your love and effort = wintastic
Thank you

I'm having difficulties logging in today - it lets me log in, but as soon as I try to edit any pages it tells me there's an issue with my session data.
I'm thinking it may not be liking the underscores in my username because they don't show up on the username field on the login page (I have to delete what's there and re-type it manually) ... besides, I've said all I'm going to say. You're reading my sig now! Bwa!

Awesome is all I can say. It's really easy to edit, if you take the time to read through the manual, but very intuitive once you get the hang of it.
I have one small remark however, considering the corporation template. As I understand it you have to enter the corporation ID to the template, but all other variables are fixed. Let's say more members join, or leave. This means a manual edit will be needed each time? I'm not sure if there is API support at all for this but it would be really nifty if it would self-update.

Sorry to say I am far far far from impressed. All of this info ported over from the game's wiki is fine, but the way it was done makes the info CCP already provided really hard to use. Where are the combat mechanics tutorials!?!? (the adjustable explanation on signature radius and trajectory vectors etc.) They are impossible to find- is it even online anymore!? Every time I go to the game guide where it used to be I get sent to the eve-olopedia and have to pick through it. This is really awful. That page had FANTASTIC information like how to tank your ship, how to improve your accuracy etc. Stuff new players need to know. I used it, and so did everybody else in my corp when they were new. This eve-lopedia is a poor substitute, and lots of the new players I would have otherwise brought to the game are going to face an even higher learning curve, and might drop off entirely. User created content is not a substitute for the official word on how things work. All of this eve-olopedia user created stuff was findable in the forums. At least they were before CCP broke the search feature over there. Now google and the regular wiki are enough. Bring the Combat Mechanics tutorial back, or put them in an easier to find place. Do not ruin another good source of quality information. PLEASE!

I don't have a problem with the wiki, so much as what it seems to be replacing. CCP's player guide used to feature some really amazing interactive tutorial explanations -complete with visual aids, and adjustable sliders. Info about how turreted gunnery, missile weapons and other game concepts worked were all there. New players need that kind of accessible information. There is no way a wiki post will substitute for that, no matter how well written.

I don't know about most players in EVE, but I've never read anything like that and have managed just fine. I don't need to know the exact intrinsic details of how my weapons work and the exact damage formula - just that they will hit at x-y range and not do any damage at z ranges __________________

I'm new to wiki editing, but isn't there any citation markups that could be used on the EvElopedia? I think that being able to easily cite the source would be useful and needed in some articles.
Other than that and some other minor issues, the whole wiki looks great to me.
Someone who has registered to Wikipedia should perhaps also edit the entry for EvE online there to include a link to the EvElopedia?
