The EVE Online Quantum Rise 1.0.3 patch has been deployed and Tranquility has returned to service. If you have an issue after the deployment, please check the below list as well as the Known Issues page to see if the Dev Team is already aware of it and submit a bug report. If you are unsure of what has been changed in this patch, please take a look at the Patch Notes page.
We would appreciate as much feedback as possible on playability and performance within large fleet battles, small gang warfare and within large population areas and mission hubs. We will be monitoring this thread over the coming days and weeks so your feedback is important to us.
Important: Please do not use this thread to discuss the Starbase exploit. All posts on that subject will be removed.

However, after this downtime, I'm totally unable to start the client.
Hi. Please try clearing your cache and settings folder. Here is how: http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=371

Originally by: Ricky1989 There is one issue for me, when jumping through a stargate, the space background turns grey for a second and then reverts to its usual colour.
Hi. Try updating your drivers if they are not already up to date. If that does not solve this issue, please file a bug report with Dxdiag, screen shots, logserver logs.
1. Read this: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=585921 2. Go here: https://bugs.eve-online.com/newbugreport.asp
You can possibly also try changing the cache size under the "Display & Graphics" tab on the ESC menu.

Originally by: Zubb Ionesco After patching the client wont start. I get an windows error message saying "The procedure entry point HeapSetInformation could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll". I'm using W2k with SP2.
Windows 2000 is not supported. The function in question was however introduced in Windows 2000 SP4, so updating to SP4 should resolve this problem.

With two it runs worse...
Amd 5600+ x2 2GB ram 8600GT
Can you elaborate on that?
- Describe how the performance is worse (lower FPS from before, more CPU/RAM used, etc)
- What graphics settings are you using?
- Are you using standard installation, or do you use a custom configruation?

However, does this mean that i lose all of my settings? I'm especially concerned with my market quickbar and bookmarks.
I have moved the old files to another folder. Is it possible to at least retain my market quickbar?
Anyway to get my market quickbar back? Bookmarks are the only thing i have left.
I'm afraid that you have to set everything up manually again. Mixing old cache/settings with new settings is not recommended as it can corrupt the client and cause nasty issues like making it impossible to start the client or corrupt the overview.

For those who are experiencing memory leak issues....
[non-TL:DR version]
Check your cache size setting:
esc -> Display & Graphics -> Cache size.
This should be set as high as your computer can handle, if you are having problems then set it back to 'off'.
If you try this and are still having issues, please submit a detailed bug report!
Rest assured we are looking into this from our end as well, but there is absolutely no substitute for good information from you guys about what you are experiencing on your own machines.
[Full version]
Memory leaks?
The graphics cache size setting determines how much graphics assets are kept resident in memory. This allows faster loading of scenes, particularly if you're warping in and out often. This comes with a side effect though that the client wil use more memory than it would otherwise. This is quite often mistaken fora memory leak. you may rest assured, it is not.
A memory leak is when the client starts using up memory and does not release it properly when it should. If you set your cache size to anything other than 'off' you are telling EVE to use that much more additional memory.
Normally the EVE client will use around ~200-500mb of RAM. If you then change your cache size to 'High - 256' that means you are telling the EVE client to use an additional 256mb of RAM, thus your client will eventually grow to be using ~400-800mb of RAM.
Optimally you would want to set this to as high as your computer can handle. This can vary widely depending on your hardware, OS, and what other programs are running when you play EVE. A general rule of thumb would be to load up EVE then open the task manager and see how much RAM you have free. If you've got plenty free, turn the setting up, if you're running low, turn it back down. ____________________________ I break things.Ö

Originally by: Bathtube i downloaded and installed the patch but when i log in a popmenu tells me that the server isn't running or i do not got connection. My internet is fine and my client was working yesterday. Someone any id of what went wrong ?
Hi. Try checking your Firewall settings. When you apply a patch, the signature of the exe file is changed which means that the firewall has to be set to accept a new signature. This is usually done automatically by most firewalls, but if this was not the case, you might have to go and check out the settings yourself.

Glad to see someone else having the same issues :-D I did submit a bug report with both the C++ error and the system error so we will see how long it takes to get a fix or work-around or something.
We are working on reproducing this in-house. Those of you with this problem, can you make sure you have shadows set at 'normal' or below and disable bloom and HDR (if you had that on previously) and see if it makes a difference.

Originally by: Vincent Mayer good patch aside from one problem for me. Massive memory usage. 1.0.2 could duel client fine and sit at about 700mb a client. but now with 1.0.3 its sitting at 2 gigs for just one client running.
We are currently working on this problem.

Edited by: CCP Atlas on 12/12/2008 12:14:07 We are still working on a client-side memory leak problem.
It appears that jumping between systems can trigger a memory usage increase in some circumstances. If you are running in fullscreen and alt-tab out of the application while jumping the memory leak can be severely increased.
We will keep you posted and will provide a fix as soon as we have one.

That pretty much describes the problem I have. I have submitted a bug report, but did not think about ALT-TABbin I was doing.
Three crashes to desktop since yesterday, near stargate (2) or station (1) and while I went to see web browser windows during warp.
We have a patch coming to our Singularity test server shortly. This should include a fix for the alt-tab memory issue and the related crash issues.
