Cider update went fine, patch update went fine, Eve runs fine. Getting 50-100% better fps and the machine is running much cooler atm (load not peaking over 2.00 even when tabbing over) Liking the update so far. Drooling over the keyboard-fix. It has broken my FW, it's the most disruptive bug I've had in Eve so far. One thing thou. Im still having odd textures with missiles and some gas objects in space. Going to check if clear cache helps... Thats just a slight annoyance.

Any suggestions? I'd very much like to avoid having to re-install. Thanks!
Right click your EVE Online app, open contents, open the file version.plist. What is the CiderBuild version? It should be a 4 digit number.

I read about the Mac Cider update earlier, but didn't make it online to upgrade Cider before 1.0.3 was deployed.

You should call this the "cider revert patch" to minimize confusion for us poor end-users.
Please remember that you're not speaking to your fellow developers, and we don't know (nor *care*) what "cider" is... (it's just a game component).

Why is the patch labeled as iMac only?
Had the same problem (no GUI, things just sat there 'without launching' the actual game), the revert patch posted seems to have fixed it.
Computer: Mac Pro (octocore 3.0GHz) w/ 7GBs RAM and 2x NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTs (full stats here: http://pastie.org/325570)
I really, really dread patches. CCP always makes the client far worse than it was for the previous patch.
Every patch day is a sad day for all of us not using Windoze because we have better things to do than play crappy computer games all day.

Thanks guys, the 'hack' worked a treat.
Is this issue specifically related to the nvidia 8800 as opposed to the 24" iMac as detailed?
Would be interesting to hear if someone with the cheaper (nvidia 2600?) has these problems of non starting.
Dreaded.

You know about the keyboard problems and Eve Voice.
At least I can still change skills...

Suggestion is to download the regression fix after downloading and installing the latest client - as detailed at the top of this post.
Looks like the same iMac I have, what graphic card did you go for? 2600 or 8800?

Hey, don't worry. This was broken completely with the last patch a week ago and they didn't fix it. I am totally shocked, they knew about the problem then and casquade is now fixing the patch AGAIN with a revert patch. Papator, just use the link casquade posted a little bit earlier in this thread for the 24in iMac users. Wow, totally shocked they didnt' fix the problem!

I have theNVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS Graphics card - and have tried the revert patch once already. Oh well, here goes nothing. Might as well try again. Just one other puzzlement: why are there two links in the original post? OK, so I download both, then what? Which one actually does anything? And is there a preferred order to apply them? How would I know? I love this Mac, but I'm really glad I still have the PCs to keep playing on. Chief Chicken |

ahem! Well, the latest attempt at the revert seems to have worked. At least it let me log in. Let's see how long it lasts in play. Not that I'm knocking it - just nervous! Thanks to everyone who posted in here and helped get the thing resolved. For anyone else who didn't know, the second link on CCP Casqade's post just opened up a line of gibberish for me. Doesn't seem to have downloaded anything and didn't seem to have any point.

Still getting intermittent keyboard issues after QR 1.0.3. Didn't have a chance to update my cider engine before the patch, so what can be done? שששששששששששששששSigשששששששששששששש The magic behind Minmatar ships is the fact that there is only one type of Minmatar ship. Edited by: Eris Gilfaniel on 12/12/2008 11:44:23 Edited by: Eris Gilfaniel on 12/12/2008 11:42:01 I don't know if this is just me, but I'm having one specific problem when I try to run two clients at once. I've duplicated the app, like I'm supposed to, and both copies will open up and I can log in to separate accounts from them, so it's mostly working. The problem that I have is that when I open the second client, it steals all the mouse input from the first client. So even if I have the first one in focus (I'm running them fullscreen, and cmd-tabing between them), all mouse input still goes to the second one. It doesn't matter which app I launch first and which second, the second one always steals the mouse. I should clarify though, the pointer does show up, and moves around in the first client, but all the clicks are applied to the second (with the appropriate x,y coordinates too). Any ideas? I'm running on a MacBook Pro, 15" CoreDuo. Oh, I should mention that this problem first showed up several patches ago, before quantum rise. Also, since QR, I can no longer log out, and have to actually quit the client to disconnect.

I was able to start Eve on my system, and I was able to enter the game. There are no odd characters when I type control. So far so good.

I'm generally among the dissenters of the Mac patches...but QR1.0.3 seems to have no major issues so far* (only about an hour on it thus far though).
My big complaints about QR1.0.1 and QR1.0.2 and excessive CPU usage don't seem to be present in QR1.0.3 - I didn't have to revert and am running at my pre-QR 68-72¦C range.
I forgot to check my alt/cmd/opt+keyboard shortcuts always throwing special characters in the active chat though, so don't know about that one.
So - Kudos to the team on this one. I understand there are still more issues, but it does seem like there is progress. Of course, we always want it all fixed yesterday...I don't know how to solve that problem though

Same thing here: no Eve in the list of apps when I Cmd+Tab. Also, Eve does not have the Happy "An Instance of This App Is Running" Blue Dot under it in the Dock. (I dragged Eve Online to the Dock in a previous patch and launch it by clicking the Dock shortcut.)
Cider version is 2036.

OK - admittedly this is a weird one... but, ever since 1.03 switching Jump Clones seems to cause the game to hang. It just stops (still have cursor movement and can ESC to settings, etc.). Wait 5 minutes.... nothing happens, changes, etc... When I quit, I get an exception error (I will try and make a note of it next time), but on log in I start in the Jump Clone that I selected to "jump to" when the system crashed.
Not a game breaker - but irritating nonetheless, and it has happened twice in a row now.
MacBook Pro, OS X 10.5.5 QR - 1.03
Thanks,

I had this before the patch. Annoying, but I also got that same exception error even without jumping. I think the exception error has more to do with quitting eve rather than the clonejump, but clonejump does indeed seem to trigger something. Stop whining. |

Edited by: La Sciura on 15/12/2008 09:03:56 Edited by: La Sciura on 15/12/2008 09:00:51 On my MBP 2.16Ghz (ATI X1600) with MacOSX 10.5.5:
fps are still the same (not that bad after all, 20-30 fps are enough to play), I didn't see the crash on focus bug in windowed mode since 1.0.3 but sometime client keeps crashing anyway and it still makes the WindowServer unstable (so I have to relog with my MacOSX session). Station graphic bug is still present. CMD+TAB makes VM size increase in memory allocation (20-30MB every time). Parallels is still a better choice in order to run Eve on my laptop.

Edited by: Camino Nachtmeister on 15/12/2008 13:11:29 If correct, auto-updated updates and patches are considered - they work with me flawless as intended if client crashes, freezes are discussed - with this latest cider and eve patches - i got way less than before (QR 1.0.2 or EA) just now and then - once a day maybe i get some more fps (25-45 instead 15 - 35)
wired sound effects, crackles and noises frpm the juke box are still a good indicator of a soon crash/freeze/disco
the newest "problem" I had to detect is the disappearance of the mouse-pointer/crosshair, which is of course crucial for the game as the mother of all "point and click and click right and mouse over"-games. That "issue" came up with these 2 latest updates (Cider and Eve)

addressing the "mouse pointer disappearing" issue ingame in the "OSX" channel, player "Commander Excelsior" came up with a potential solution/workaround:
when the mouse pointer disappeared, just "cmd-enter" in and out full screen/windowed screen and the mouse pointer should be back

I have also experienced this bug (once in the middle of a fight too!). Thanks for the tip on the workaround.
