Do we know where are they shipped from?

In case the cards haven't shipped yet, it would be totally great if you guys at CCP could ask NVIDIA to ship the cards with EU destination from one of their offices or depots within the EU. This would save us so many headaches with customs and taxes.

Does this apply even if they're shipping it with FedEx or whatever?

US residents will most likely pay 0$ as ccp stated shipping is included in the price and cards are shipped from US.

EU residents will pay vat (around 20-25%) + customs tax (around 10%) + mail service charge (around 8Gé¼). It all depends what will be the final price for card+shipping, but 50Gé¼ sounds about right if we say card + shipping is 190 + 30$. If the declared price of the card+shipping will be less than 150Gé¼, it could be a little bit less. Add time needed for shipping and time card will spend in customs office + unclear warranty.

Biggest joke would be if they really declared the price of card in plexes (20 plex = 350Gé¼).

Indeed. Let's hope it's sensible for a card that can be bought in UK for less than -ú120 (before VAT)

I must admit I was expecting more than one distribution point (NA, EURO, Pacific).


If you run such a service again I would suggest giving the valuation of the item and where it will be dispatched from.
This extra bit of information goes a long way to reducing the length of forum threads like this one

But we have some, if not really all that much, information now from nVidia.

The cards will be sent soon, and will be handled by FedEx, sent from the US, except cards purchased in Russia, who will be sent from local nVidia dealerships, to avoid any possible issues with customs.

As soon as the cards will be sent, we will then be sending an email to inform you of this.

Im not in the US either, cards will be shiped soon from USA to everywhere bar russia, hot hard to understand.

I do agree that being shiped "soon" after more then 2 weeks is slow as hell, but at least we got some info.

If your in the UK don't forget that not only is the item taxed at 20%, so is the insurance and delivery cost. In the past you could ship these without paying VAT by buying a card that did not have any firmware loaded on it, I doubt that loophole still exist, and even if it did then the flash chips are not removable in these units these days so it would be a pain. FedEx will tack a fee on top for adding the tax and collection of the taxes. I think it's the greater of 2.5% of total taxible amount OR -ú10.50. Since the tax on this will be low (-ú40--ú60 depending on RRprice+insurance+shipping) then you should expect the -ú10.50 addition. I do not think customs/import duty should will be payable on this item as it will not be above the limit. If the declared value is Nil, then you shouldnt pay any tax or fee. This will depend on what Nvidia puts on the export sheet. Would be sad if if NV uses RRP and some of you guys end up paying more for the video card than you can pick it up for in the stores ;P.... Would also be sad if it died in a month because American warrantys are usually useless. But eh, Most ppl who purchased were just dumping isk so it doesnt matter that much.

My card is stuck in customs.
More precisely, I had a phone call from a courier company's customs empoyee, who said he would make me an offer for taxes&duties, postage cost to my home, and - of course - payment for his services.
This is a known - and partly legal - sort of thing. These ppl make a living by charging outrageously high amounts, just to pass ppl's stuff through customs. (Of course, the customs officers cooperate with them). Typical charge is 80EUR, for simple packages like this.

(And of course, it would have been avoided if you had posted the cards to EU winners, from within EU. Anyway.)

In short, to handle this affair, I need what you promised but never delivered: tracking number for my card and which courier service handles the package. Please, e-mail it to me ASAP.

If you want me to petition for it, just say so.

I need the tracking number to find the specifc customs office the card now is, to speak directly with the customs officials - unfortunately, each courier service can decide where it shall pass customs, and they make a hefty profit with this scheme just because ppl like me live 500km away from the capital, where they have their customs sevice.

If you don't bother helping me, I won't have any means of finding this package and - since I won't pay 23% VAT, about 3.5% import tax (added to whatever base price they decide is the correct one) plus about 80EUR (typical charge for their services) I will ask them to return it to you. (They'll do it anyway, after a few days if I don't pay them).

So, tracking number plz!!!
