I know a lot of people do not get into FW and plexing is sometghing many that do play FW tend to avoid. However let me tell you my experiences with FW and plexing have been nothing like what others have said. Over the past 7 days with my focus being on plexing, I have been involved in no less than 10 PvP engagements between Amarr and Minmatar Militia with Fleets of at least 10 per side.
The engagements have been intense and hard fought with both sides wining and losing some. Plexing makes these engagements that much more intesne since losing the field does not mean losing a ship but losing the plex. Pilots in these battles are more apt to fight it out as best they can as long as they can not run the first time they get a shield hit. In this kind of combat your actions have a prupose other than filling up stats on a kill board.
Another great side effect of this is the ships used. Gone are the huge battleship fleets slugging it out in massive bloobs. Most of these engagements barely went above Battlecruisers. In fact Tech I and II frigates are the norm with Destroyers and Cruisers making the majority of the balance.
FW get a bum wrap on a lot of points, the truth is it can be exciting and the battles in many ways a ton more fun than those in 0.0. If you have not done FW yet or think plexing is boring. Join up with an FW plexing fleet and check out what can be a truly intense ride.

Most of this takes place between 14:00 EVE and 21:00 EVE. I have seen some of this later in the day but is less common.

I agree.
To me, plexing is just something you do to pass the the time until there is a sighting of an enemy fleet. We then regroup and go hunting for them.
For anyone in FW, keep an eye on your militia channel, there's always complexes needing to be done, fleets forming for the hunt or even simply intel reports.

The Amarr - Minmatar front has become one of the greatest controlled PvP arenas ever. Gone (almost) are the days with 40-50 man hordes running around cluttering up local with gibberish, solo and small gangs are the way to go.
Most if not all the "Hardcore PvP" Corporations on both sides have noticed that the kill quality and ferocity of the engagements is leagues ahead of the curve when there is a complex to fight in/over. Guess they didn't appreciate that the 'Lolzor-RP-corps' passed them in the kill stats ... hahahahaha
Forced size restrictions is a big part of it, no hot-dropping morons around here, quality piloting and module selection is what wins the day.
I think FOOM is trying to introduce the concept on the Caldari - Gallente front, at least that is the impression I get from all of Frieds posts
