Assuming I fit, heavy assaults, or cruise, and have good missile skills what could I kill? What ship types? Are they decent against other frigs? How about cruisers? cargo ships?

Stealth bomber isn't very impressive solo. It can pop some frigates and sure it could kill an industrial or mining barge (what couldn't?) A gang of them can do rather surprising things but they don't engage in a conventional way.

A gang of anything else though can also do some good things and there's very little a gang of stealth bombers can't do that another gang can't just do better.
Also a stealth bomber brings very little to a mixed gang and is worthless solo
tl;dr stealth bombers are poo and i won't let anyone bring one to a fleet if i can help it __________________________________

Depends on who you are fighting and the circumstances. The best fight I have been in solo was in 0.0 when I was hunting in my manti. Two frigs at gate, so I uncloak, fire off a volley at the first frigate, switch targets and fire a volley at the second. Both go boom and a Rapier uncloaks, he had been waiting for me. Killed the Rapier as I was about to go into structure.
Fun times indeed

Bombers are better in gangs than solo, but it can be fun (if only once in a while) to wait around cloaked in a belt for someone in a frig to start ratting. When he's engaging other targets uncloak, lay down some jams, and fire. If it takes two or less volleys to kill him he probably won't be able to warp out in time, although if you have to wait for a third or fourth volley either the jam cycles will end and he'll attack you, or he'll warp out. Some people have weird Bomber setups that utilize a scram and web, but tbh it's kinda crazy to be engaging from that distance in a ship that goes pop so fast.
Manticore with excellent missile skills will do around 2300 damage per volley with faction kinetic missiles and two BCU II's. Get half a dozen people in different bomber classes with good skills together and they'll two or three-volley cruisers unless the cruiser tanked hard for all damage types. Three volleys takes less than thirty seconds.

Bombers are a 'fun' class. Just about any other ship does the job better, but people don't expect them which is fun. They have some impressive alpha damage, at least in numbers, and they are cheap as chips.
Consider camping a gate with twenty of them and a heavy dictor for awesome fun. 50k of alpha is brutal, tank breaking sexy. With a heavy dictor holding the target, you kill just about anything in 2 or 3 volleys before it can achieve anything. And 20 bombers costs like 200ish mil... really efficient for your isk.

Uh, I think you could probably kill another Manticore. Maybe an Ibis too, if you have some really awesome skills. Beware of BattleBadgers though, they'll just pwn you. -----------

Dont use a stealth bomber, chuck it in the bin and take a useful ship.
/me is sick of seeing sb's in fleets
/end rant.
Their only ok if your on a specialised stealth fleet role. In other scenarios I really dont like them. EVE history

If you were to find a solo stealth bomber - you could probably take him out.
If you think corp is different than a guild or clan you have some insecurity issues.

Edited by: 6Bagheera9 on 15/12/2008 06:49:20 Edited by: 6Bagheera9 on 15/12/2008 06:48:59 Given the missile nerf I would not longer trust them to be able to insta pop T2 frigs regularly. Destroyers will take 2 volleys at least, but are still easy meat. Cruisers and up are gonna be your most worthwhile targets. Alone you can't hope to kill these larger ships, you need at least a handful of bombers in conjunction with dedicated tacklers and preferably some EWAR to keep the heat off you.
People often complain about how there is nothing that a bomber can do that another ship can't do more cheaply and/or better. This is a generalization that ignores the specialized nature of stealth bomber's role. They are not meant to be part of the usual blob and are best paired with recon or frigate fleets which can make use of their ranged dps and evasive abilities. Both of these types of fleet are very good at pinning down and disabling targets but are often short on dps. Bombers can't spew the dps that other ranged damage platforms can, but they do alright and are able to move more quickly and covertly. The surprise factor that comes from being able to cloak is also very real. The enemy is initially ignorant of the entirety of your forces and even once the shooting starts its hard to keep track of half-a-dozen bombers cloaking and decloaking all around you. When speaking of stealth bombers its best not ask what does this ship add to our fleet but rather what fleets would this ship add to? Deploying bombers should be the natural choice to fill a specific need and not just done for no particular reason.
If you're not interest or in a position to exploit these advanced tactics but still want to play with bombers there are still are few gimmicks that you can pull. Can flipping acquires a whole new level of uncertainty with bombers involved and takes the art of griefing to new lows. If you're sufficiently patient you can also just park yourself in belt and just wait for a ratter to come along. With the help of the npcs, cruisers become viable solo targets and there is a potential to land even bigger fish if you're lucky and well prepared.

This. This is why people fly SB's. Nothing is more fun that to take out three ships solo with any type of frig, but doing it with a SB is just gravy all over Stop whining. |

but back to reality, you can expect to instapop smaller stuff, and maybe even a cruiser or two

Solo Manticore 1) Regarding NPC ships A Manti can kill almost everything up to BS, if flown correctly - in very short time. Of course u need the corresponding skills at lvl4 at least. It is best suited for low sec ratting, rather than missioning though. 2) Regarding PvP : Don't have much experience, but I assume it can kill certain types of ships easily. I would say cruisers are the main target here. In general, it is a very underestimated ship class. As with every type of ship in the game, u just have to pick target and situation for effective use. / |

Well if ccp continues to cut BOMBS prices.. maybe another 4 or 5 times. Then maybe Sbombers will be useful ( Come on CCP. the bombs cost was not slightly too high, was ORDERS of magnitude too high. Make them cost 1/5 of their current prices and people might use them.

The only ships I have killed solo in my Purifier were in 0.1 - 0.4 space.
I would sit in an asteroid belt about 20km from a rat spawn, cloaked, and wait for someone to come in ratting.
Young players in Destroyers, players in Frigates, and young players in Cruisers I was able to kill very easily.
Nothing impressive. It was fun to just appear and instapop newbies ratting in 0.1 - 0.4 space but you don't really get much out of it. It also doesn't happen very often. Now if you had 2 stealth bombers in low-sec...yeah...totally take cruisers.
I haven't touched stealth bombers since Quantum Rise Missile Changes ---
