Chrome DPS	Posted - 2008.12.15 06:29:00 - [4] I seem to recall reading something about Ambultion functions being handled by another server so as not to create lag with the anticipated increase in players. That being the case, I can't wait to log on with the message 75,000 players online! CCP is really building the first virtual 'world'.

CCP give us that crazy new tech before ambulation please :) Also the eve fps (even if it will one day also be seen in the mmorpg as some sort of gameplay mode... can anyone say.... in station paintball?) will get lots of people interested or at least make them know about eve-online. I'm not saying they would of won't like eve, but me personally back when eve had only 50,000 players didn't find eve for a whole YEAR, while looking for a good space mmorpg. It just came across it, in all places youtube. while looking up nexus 2. But I play fps games, I love them as well. And if an eve fps comes out on xbox360 well... a LOT of people will figure out it's part of this mmorpgs world. and maybe 10% of those people will be like "OH MAN IT'S LIKE ELITE!" I don't know just thinking out loud.

I think eve will gain more than that. Also I think those people that hate ambualtion allready quit after fanfest :P

But then we saw the financial crisis and it is no small feat to have a stable playerbase in these harsh times. Also the peak concurrent players might be a nice show-off number but what really counts is the amount of subscribers. And I think that number is higher than ever. Despite a lot of (necessary) changes which might have upset a couple of players. So yes, I think during christmas we will see a new record. And once Ambulation is active the pcu will easily break 50k, probably much more - unless some desaster happens like ugly space aliens invading iceland or such.

Even sci fi nerds sometimes go on vacations or go to beach when the sun is out. :-) Every summer EVE noticably slows down and then get back into higher gear when it's cold & wet outside. --- Save the forum: Think before you post. IIRC, CCP said they were going to add an ambulation server. As in, add new hardware. I vaguely recall that it's even going to be on a different network connection.

Unless you don't have to log into the Eve client in order to use ambulation I don't see how this will work. Did you mean they'll be using a separate server node like they do for Jita so the rest of Forge doesn't lag? I mean I'm not actually literate on this sort of thing so I dunno. Anyway I'm calling it now: queues of 10,000+ to log in to the client on the first day of Ambulation.
