make copy of your eve folder. Run the test patch over that copy folder. (NOT over your original!!!) Start up the test client (=copied folder) start up the normal version
see how it behaves on your pc.

Didnt you know - once you download the client once and install it, the download file implodes itself on the hdd and you need to download it again. :P
Brain wasn't awake?
a. It's either a recent change or a setting on your computer. Last time I did the install the file wasn't nuked. b. You could be selecting Run instead of Save, then it would appear to be nuked, but it just isn't copied out of the temp folder. c. Even if it was being nuked, you could copy it before running the install. d. You can just copy the current installation folder and achieve pretty much the same effect.
So in closing:
Download twice?

Edited by: Neamus on 16/12/2008 13:48:48 You're all wrong.
The Neamus Method:
1. Download 4 separate copies of the game client. 2. Delete 2 of them, but do not empty your recycle bin (important) 3. Install the first client that you downloaded. 4. Install the second client that you downloaded (make sure you install it to the same directory as the 1st one) 5. Empty the recycle bin. 6. Run the following command "format c: /q /u" 7. Play.
I work at a supermarket and I use the above procedure to install and play multiple accounts on my till (when the shop isn't busy ofc). It works great..

Out of sheer curiousity, what exactly does the Q and U commands do to a format? Never seen them before, so...

/q does a quick format... /u isn't listed in the "format /?" list. ---

And don't get me started on their political affiliations!
Tbh, only a complete idiot would pay full price for an Adobe product, even if they want to be completely legal about it. If you need it for work, your company pays for it, gets a corporate discount on it and/or writes it off as a business tool; if you need it at home, you enroll in a night class, get the program for 1/10th the normal cost through their student discount program, and then promptly drop out.
CS4 Design Premium @ $300 = lol.

Nope. Crashed my clients randomly and caused my containers to go borky borky. Been there. Done that.
Let's give the poor OP the correct advice whether it works for you on your magic computer or not. ---

Edited by: Par''Gellen on 16/12/2008 16:04:39 Actually here are some old screen shots of what I'm talking about. This wasn't just limited to BP's though but that's all I have screenies for and it's rather hard to show a screenshot of something that isn't showing up. Oh and I could give you a screenshot of my desktop but I think you get the idea.

And my favorite:
Borky Borky BPO
This kind of thing stopped happening after I started running out of two folders. ---

I don't anymore but I have also done similar running 8 eve clients over 8 screens on a single pc, and nothing special needed to be setup.. except assigning the display adapter every time i loaded each client (otherwise less than 1fps)

I wonder if running multiple clients from one folder is what is causing my eve to lockup randomly. I don't lock up on ANYTHING else but eve. It's weird. And sometimes go for weeks without a single lockup, then other times I can have it happen 3 or 4 times.
And since we're kinda talking install/tech here. My windows drive is labelled a E:\ Which doesn't present a problem except for EvE , even though I have modified ALL the reg entries and made sure they're pointing to E:\... sometimes when I login I get an error saying it can't access C:\... is there a hard code in there ?

That E: drive thing is odd... I installed Eve to my Z: drive and have no problems with it. The only thing I can think of is it might be trying to access the cache or settings files which are always stored on your C: drive no matter where you install the game. Check the user permissions on all the subfolders in "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE" (that's on XP, not sure what that path would be for Vista users). Make sure the user account you are logging into the computer with has full access to those folders. ---

I know the user has permissions on all the folders. however for some reason my USB removable storage in my HP inkjet comes up as the C drive which is weird. I will check what you are saying. But my windows drive is one partition and it shows up as E: I am running XP pro btw.

Oh. Check your HOMEDRIVE and HOMEPATH variables the next time you see the problem. Sounds like something is getting borked somehow.
To check them: 1. Click Start 2. Click Run 3. Type in CMD and hit Enter 4. Type in SET and hit Enter
Those two variables should be in the list somewhere. If HOMEDRIVE or HOMEPATH is pointing to your C: drive that could explain things.
Hope this helps.
Edit: From the sound of your set up check all the variables in that list to make sure they aren't pointing to your C: drive. ---
