Hi all.
Please post your Quantum Rise 1.0.4 feedback here.
Those of you who are unable to start the client after patching. Please file a bug report and let us know what machine you have and what version of OS X you are running.
Here is a revert patch for those that are unable to start their client. http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/mac/EVEO-Revert-2054-1481.tgz
Workaround for station interior bug:
There is currently a workaround for those of you who are having this issue. Please note that this workaround can have graphics side effects, depending on what hardware you are running.
1. Open Finder 2. Hit shift-apple-G 3. Type: ~/Library/Preferences/EVE Online Preferences/ 4. Open the config file 5. Find the GLSL line and change the value from "Y" to "M"
Thanks

Still not appearing in the dock....

Don't you TEST it before it gets released?

Weird thing: I had to update 3 times. First: out of game updater (might be Cider?) Second: downloaded from login window then normal game patch process Third: out of game patch again (Cider again?)
After speaking with people on the OSX ingame channel, several people had that too.
Anyway, it worked without trouble in the end. Just weird process, then :)
Otherwise, I had a framerate boost since the previous Cider patch (pre-QR 1.0.4). Going from 25 fps to 30-40 fps in space (without much object).
I also installed Mac OS X 10.5.6 just before QR 1.0.4 and think the framerate is slightly better again but I didn't test much.
The map browser (F11) works great, no trouble with it since the previous Cider patch (and it never worked before).
I still have to check if the buggy textures on in-space particules is fixed.
The bad thing is the Mac client still has a huge memory leak when switching application: around 30 MB are used each time I go to the Finder (Eve being in fullscreen).
It's getting better anyway, thanks.
My config : MacBook Pro 2.6GHz Core 2 Duo, 2 GB of mem, GeForce 8600M GT, Mac OS X 10.5.6
EDIT: Quick update: logging off still doesn't work :(

The reason for the multiple patches is because we had multiple versions of cider out, which all have to take people to the same version when we patch EVE. We're hoping to get rid of this soon.

Please file a bug report about this. Does this happen to anyone else?

No problem with the dock icon here. I even have only one icon now instead of the two I had a few patches ago.
Thanks for explaining the multiple updates.
About the "corrupt transparent textures" bug: sadly, it's still there on my MBP. Interstellar clouds and shields are still a mess :( Even if it is a driver problem (although I never saw this bug in any other application), couldn't a workaround be found by CCP or TransGaming? Is there a way to disable clouds?

Strangely I didnt have to apply the revert patch on my 24" iMac with 8800GS graphics card. I allowed the upgrade process to take place as per normal...
The game asked to download and apply 2 patches, the first through the logon window and the second through a popup.
Not sure if this means I'm still running patched Cider or not, and tbh didnt have time to check this mornings.
Overall though from someone who normally looses access to Eve for aroudn 24 hours per patch a big thumbs up

Happy for you DearHunter, unfortunately I am still working on getting back online 12 hours later (24" 8800). Nothing seems to be working. It seems I am stuck on an old Cider version but I cant seem to get the correct one. Did you have to wait a long time after patching before the game started? Am I just too impatient?

Edited by: Remus Navillum on 17/12/2008 04:42:24 Seems to be working quite nicely. I now get a buttery smooth 80fps in station, and between 30 and 50fps in space depending on what's on the grid. Particle effects have resumed being all wonky, but that's tolerable for now. Haven't had time to play long enough to check for a memory leak, but here's to hoping that it's gone.
Overall, this patch earns my Stamp of Approval(TM)... not that I actually have one or that you would care if I did, but... y'know. It's fun to pretend.
[Edit] Also, no apparent changes between the 10.5.5 and 10.5.6 versions.

The client's still running out of memory and crashing if I cmd-tab a lot. Wasn't the point of this patch to fix that?

cant load EVE anymore... from dock (icon still there) or from the app itself. The updater has run about 3-4 times- when I first tried to enter app from dock, it prompted a there is an update do you want to.. message, I said yes and it downloaded update and installed. Then when I finally got to opening login screen, it asked again, downloading bar went across, app shut down and would not re-open. I left to attend to other life duties and tried again to open app, it alerted me to update...do you want to...downloaded and installed... would not open app from either dock or from app file. stuck here... no EVE

I patched immediately in waking... so approx 12 hours ago and said yes to any questions.
I'd suggest you get an old install and run through the patches, its probably the quickest option for you.

tried to enter EVE through my laptop (MBP 2.5, 2GB, running 10.5.5 with GeForce 8600M GT) it would not allow me to open EVE without installing the patch, then when installed, I could not enter again. It continued to ask me if I wanted to install the update (after initial install). forced me to load updater a second time from log in page, after that was done installing it kept asking me if I wanted to upload update... when I kept declining it finally opened EVE and I could get in. So now my MBP seems to allow me in but iMac wont. ... I suppose the heat pouring from the laptop will help keep out house warm in this cold wave here..

what exactly do you mean by "get an old install"? I really dont want to do a complete new install (once again ) and lose all my pref's, bm's etc..

Mac OSX 10.5.4 8core 3 GHz, X1900, 30" Display running in highest resolution and grafic settings.
No probs so far thy for the multi-patch explanation Master Casquade
no fps gain with QR 1.0.4 compared to 1.0.3
no crash, freeze, disco, forced restart since the patch - so far
no map no station bugs
maybe 1-2 slight, wired grafic issues - tiny tecture anomalies

so is my only choice a complete new download and install of the game? Why are these patches so problematic for some and seemingly utter bliss (to read some of the glowing reports) to others. Strange eh? For me still stuck on the outside, EVE wont load after repeated attempts to first install patch , then revert patch when it wouldnt work. Now it just does not open - on my desktop. I finally got it loaded and working on my MBP - though it still prompts me to install patch 3 times every time I try to open EVE on laptop. Also strange. It just burns so hot on the lap, I'm scared to play it for very long . Any clues or advice anyone would have would be welcome. 22 minutes for complete install to complete downloading.....

This is also a problem for me. I've filed a bug report, even though I guess you have some already.

"Log out" doesn't work for me. Sometimes it produces a Mac OS X dialog box complaining about an exception and offering me the option to debug it.
Quitting EVE is the only way for me to switch clients.
Will bug report next time I get the dialog box.

Hi All,
1.0.4 took me through several steps as well.
My experience has been better than some, worse than others.
The F11 map is working, but transparent graphics are bugged. I also get an exception when I quit the client. I always debug and file a report to Apple.
MacBook Pro running the latest OSX.
Cheers!

So Ive run into a little problem. dont know what it is, but there seems to be no working around it. Certain groups will not work, modules will not on-line or show active, ect, the list goes on.

frustration continues... new install works kind of... only after removing all previous EVE pref files from from library string. Now I have a bare app with , no surprise, no prior saved prefs from my year plus of playing. I haven't even played for a long enough time to look at prior issues (Overview broken etc...)
Would there be a problem with me re-inserting those prior 'local settings' Eve pref's? Which would I need to re-insert to get my prefs back? ( I saved the file EVE at the end of library/preferences/p drive/local settings/Application data/CCP/EVE)
My bug report I filed about this whole thing was thrown back at me (as has always been the case with every bug report I have ever filed - I suspect PC savvy "bug hunters" receive them and are easily confused )
Quote: your bugreport was not very clear to us. Could you please file update your bug report with a better description
I tried to detail the events as clearly and as detailed as possible. Ah well...

I don't know how windows' version run but, it seems like when you "log out", it quits and relaunch eve. mac version quits and relaunch app too, but sometimes Quit function prompt a bug :D, a tiny bug ^^

Try it. Go to "~/Library/Preferences/EVE Online Preferences/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility/settings". Delete the directory called cache and copy back the directory called settings from the backup. It should work (sort of). If you have problems just go there and delete both cache and settings to reset again.

Make sure you file the bug under Mac/Linux category or it will go to people that only know one kind of mac, and it's a fast food named like a Disney character.

Argh!
I have had several client crashes since the patch -- including one which hung in such a way that I needed to reboot the machine [Mac Pro, nVidia 7300 GT].
The problem usually seems to happen when navigating drop-down menus -- especially if I move the mouse down the menu very quickly.
Is anyone else seeing this?
