Nope. You ore thief types should get yourselves some cargo scanners.
It's amazing how many BS BPs you can find floating wastefully in jet cans. Easily the quickest 8mil you can make in EVE... It's not personality that counts, it's calibre... |

Ore theft is wrong...someone spends hours of their time only for some lamer in an indi to come along and swipe the lot. How can CCP let this happen? Its getting that a brave miner in his BS can't strip noob systems anymore.

Originally by: spurious signal With any luck CCP will make it so that mining into a jet-can criminally flags you. Then those selfless individuals who go around clearing up YOUR TRASH can rightly open fire on you and do the universe a favour by ridding it of some worthless carebear scum too.
Thanks.
And they will fire with what? Mining lasers and deployed harvester mining drones? I would **** people off on purpose, so they attack my indy.. only to return back with BS and gank those miners:P Even now.. if you attack criminally flagged person, you will become criminally flagged to him. So he can defend.
I don't think average miners will want to be criminally flagged towards average ore thieves... considering average miner has 10% skillpoints in mining and another 90% in industry and science.. and average ore thief has 10% in indy skill and 90% in gunnery. (these numbers are un-educated guesses, but you get the picture)
Noone would get anything from that if CCP implements criminal flagging of ore thieves. It would just create more fun for ore thieves... because they'll be able to gank vigilant miners without consequences.

Not all miners only have mining lasers to shoot with. Many carry drones and/or missles or how to survive in .8 and below? Personally I'd like to see the flagging so I could start the flogging

I have kept out of this debate for quite a while now. All I can say is that if I put down a bag of groceries to get my car keys out of my pocket and someone steals them, THEY ARE A THIEF!!! If I put down a hammer while I get another box of nails and someone steals it, THEY ARE A THIEF!!! If I leave my car running while I go back to the house and grab my kid and someone steals it, THEY ARE A THIEF!!! A thief is anyone who steals the fruits of someone else's labor.
As for the argument that CCP condones ore thieves, please remember that the original purpose of the secure can was to prevent ore thieving. It is the misuse of secure cans as advertisement (littering) that lead to losing the ability to anchor them in high security space. The very space where newbs need protection from the griefers we refer to as ore thieves.
Just my opinion, and if you don't like it, you are a stupid butt.

Maybe so,but if you chose to bash in the thiefs head with another hammer, you would be ganked by the police forces, thief or not. So what was your point again? |

There is only one solution to ore thieving. CCP needs to build the 'Eve Omnipotence System' which will be able to psychically determine when someone is an ore thief. It would then send an electronic pulse back through the line to the ore thief's computer causing high voltage to arc from the PC to the ore thief. The charge will be such that it instantly removes 100% of the water within the thief's body rendering them lifeless and, in effect, neutralized.

Edited by: Kerplunk on 20/07/2004 15:42:02 Hmm... Vogon seems to be a known ore thief, hehe
It's a total pain that ore thieves are around stealing all that hard earned ore. Anyone would be pi**ed off if you'd spent an hour mining in safe space only to have 20,000m3 of your ore swiped away while you get your indy. It's only natural.
I totally am against the ore thieves, but then it's a game to play how you want so 'all's fair etc.'. I'd just not expect ore thieves to receive friendly welcomes if they ever cross into low sec space while cackling they have just swiped someones ore....
Although an amusing story was a corp member in a BS mining in 0.9 kept his eye on a rifter eyeing up his can... and couldn't believe it when he dashed in an stole a sizable chunk of mined ore... all 350m3 of it! ---
Make it idiot proof and someone will make a better idiot.
