HAHAHAHHA Man I've missed some Tiller posts. Enjoyable smack. 
Anyways - on to your drake.
1st - arbalests are way too expensive to be worth it - spend 2 weeks and get t2 heavies and save yourself 60 mil on that setup.
2nd. If the Hauler is a Mammoth, or a Bestower - they have 4 low slots - so they've still get away. Iteron Mark V has 5 slots...
That said, if you MUST have 3-points (even a Badger II with 3 warp stabs will get away) - drop 1 large shield extender for either a 4th point (to catch badger II's) or a sensor Booster II with scan res script. Ships are more agile now - so you want quicker locks.
You must be lucky to have a spot in low sec that haulers travel through frequently without a scout.
In my neck of the woods, I don't even bother sitting on the gate because a hauler's noob ship alt will spot me and the hauler won't come through. I'm either aligned to warp in (in which case perma tanking sentries isn't that useful) - or I fit a cloak and fit 3 sensor boosters.
If I were you - I'd give up on the tank completely and focus on killing fast. Just have a warp in spot 3000 m from the gate - when your alt spots a target, warp in.
3x Ballistic control II Damage Control II

7x Heavy missile II
2x Anti-EM Anti-Thermal
- Cheaper than your ship - by 40 million in rigs and 60 million in missile launchers. So mine is 100mil cheaper. - 4 points. - Locks 2x as fast. - Does 2-3 times more damage - faster hauler pop.
You'll tank sentries long enough to kill and grab your loot (I'd make a 180km warp off point - BM the wreck - warp to spot - warp to wreck - minimize time you're under sentry fire).
If the tank is too weak for your liking drop the 4th point for a large shield extender.
Don't forget to overheat your missiles. 
If you lose the drake - who the hell cares, it'll cost you maybe 10-15 million to lose. pffft.
Get an Onyx as fast as possible. Does this job sooooooo much more effectively - you'll get a tank, more mobility, and faster locks.
Solo gate camping is tough because your targets aren't playing solo much (scouts - using travel fits with i-stabs).

See, there's a lot of flaming of Tiller in this thread. But you have to admit, that this is probably the most poasted in thread C&P has had for awhile. It's already 4 pages after only a couple hours. i'm not playing with a 2nd acc atm so this is lazy way.. no alt to spot just balls of steel and knowledge of game mechs to keep me alive... without a alt this is only way to catch stuff, cant beat the excitment of not knowing whats coming through :)
it's strange how entire blobs of guys still don't understand gates... 2 nights back I had a gang of guys on my faction fitted CNR at gate, they took me into armor and I sat there as long as possible. then i got the 'omgomg lets all get on kill mail'... I just then jumped through gate and left them feel stupid.
eve is a strange place full of dumb people..

Not 100% percent positive that it can perma-tank sentries.. but it is pretty close.. drop this setup in your eft and check it out...

1x LSE II 1x Invul II 4x Warp Disruptor II
4x SPR II
Rigs: 2x Shield Extender I 1x Shield Purger I
Tanks around 315 dps.. not sure of the exact number of sentry dps.. but i assume its right around that area..

a little note in your quest to kill macro haulers.... find the ship they are using and the station they are originating from and drop haulers in station and surrounding systems at a substantial mark up. Even rice bowls will not pod travel in low sec. This should substantially increase profit in between sweet drops.

@Tiller (and ignoring 4 pages of posts): You got a setup that would work with a gang? Similar setup? I've been playing with the Drake since I lost one to a Stealth BOmber/Recon Ship gang, and another to a 9-on-1 gankfest in Faction War... (In both cases took forever to down my ship) and was actually looking at this ship. I don't think it'd tackle down my Badger (typically carries plenty of Warp Core stabs, thought about getting a Blockade Runner but not worth the time) but it does look VERY handy. ---Signature--- I have turned my back upon the State and their sins. That's a great fit
If the pinnacle of your piracy career is knocking out a hundred macrohaulers a day in Ingunn. (can't really see it working anywehre there's real haulers coming through)
Also, sink 30 days into an onxy ffs, drake is just embarresing to fly, unless you're using it as a troll-mobile to trick nano-***s into dieing to you. [center]

nice m8, i think on ship fitter you need to show about 420ish dps to perma tank..
a little off topic but...
ccp killed the game with warp to zero, they should of abolished instas but made everyone travel 15km to gate, would of made pvp in eve so much more fun. no doubt everyone will cry 'onoes, real pvp isn't at gates', maybe in your little fantasy worlds but thats where most pvp in eve is..warp to zero also ended sniping. (i suspect that was a accident)
insta docking at stations also ruined the game, docking with no bookmarks used to be fun and exciting..
ccp, wake up and stop spoiling the game... eve is about risks, take away the risks and things get very boring. maybe it increases your subs as everyone feel cozy, safe and warm.. but existing players who play eve shootemup feel left out in cold. you try to make up for your failings by adding optional faction warfare.. but who wants to play a game where fighting has to be consentual.

no i use carriers to kill macro haulers... much more fun. though why ccp struggle to rid eve of macro haulers i don't know, I spot 100s everyday, you'd have to be blind not to be able to find them.
i'll tell you why they are still in game, they pay subs so ccp don't care... they pretend to but as long as that cash keeps flowing they don't actually care.
drake is fine as a ship btw, it's almost godly at pirating at gates and killing bears... real haulers ? lol, well years back i made billions by just targetting transport ships, used a pair of scorps though, with 6 points between us.. and another ship remote sensor boosting them. (you used to be able to lock down frigs in a raven with boosting before they could warp)

nice but whats the range on TS Scrams ?, it's gotta be enough so anyone decloaking after jump is in range.
With Recon V and without overloading 22KM... nice but not enough DPS to quickly kill and gtfo, make a superb tackler for a 0.0 camp tho

5x ham on biscuit
serve with tea or rhum.
no rigs, rigs are for sissies. it's the thing that glows that really does it! |
