Jukhta Mein Domini Umbrus R.U.R.	Posted - 2008.12.21 13:10:00 - [1] Hello, I have been experienced lag when running two clients on the same computer. I toned it down to classic clients and followed some of the advice here (turn down graphics settings and all that), but the lag's still there. It comes in two forms: 1) a persistent lag where my fps drops from 40 with 1 client to 18 with two. 2) Momentary freezes where I can't do anything at all. These freezes are infrequent and only last a couple of seconds but are irritating nonetheless. I'm running Windows Vista with 2 gig ram, 3gig duo core and a geforce 8400 graphics card. Any help?

I have tried several suggestions from forum here but i still have the same problem The funny thing is my Old PC running Widows Xp and a nvidia card dont have this lag problem even running 2 clients in premium mode ! This IS a eve problem no question about that Is there a solution avaiable ? Is there anyone running windows Xp that has this problem ?

Only the one client though It was the same lag I was experiencing when Quantum Rise first came out...but they fixed the issue...for me (XP 32.) Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. However, here are some things that can help: Update your graphics drivers to the latest version Install the latest DirectX software Ensure you do not have Anti-Aliasing enabled in your graphics card (EVE does NOT support AA) Change VSYNC setting: Graphics options -> check "advanced settings" -> Present Interval to one. I have multiple client running and could support upto four clients without an issue prior to quantum rise. Now, when I try to run just two clients, the EVE clients are very unresponsive and the mouse slows down significantly, as if I were using graphics over a very slow link for remote control of a Windows workstation. I lowered the cache size setting to 32MB as I noted that it increased in value. My clients are windowed mode. I don't play EVE much anymore, so I can't say if I expereince lag in any part of the game outside the station. I'm thinking of slapping in a better video card with more Video Ram on it to see if that helps. Vista Ux64 XP1 4GB Ram Intel Core 2 6400 Nvidia 7950 GX2 w/ 178.13

Clicking on any info source that requires generating a new window freezes the game, this can last for a few seconds to Min's. Clicking on fitting button will often cause the window to open in the local window area and cause it to minimize. It also is chopped and does not display more than 3/4 of the fitting information. It may work upon closing and reselecting, but there have been times when it just refuses to work. System freezes of a few seconds up too 10-15 Min's have occurred in normal play with one account. During this time the hard drive light is on constant and very loud. Gate jumps still can cause freezes of a few seconds to Min's. Now lets get too two accounts...... This is sad. Before I could actually play two accounts and mine, tho pvp is impossible as I freeze and go OOS and can take huge amounts of time to get control of the PC again. It freezes so hard I am unable to shut down the PC, my only recourse is shutting down by the p/s. I have a huge suggestion. I pay for the game, how about a customer complaint number where I can actually speak to someone in regards to a game that having 3 accounts I would expect some kind of service. I have to say that having forums is great, tho me spending hours upon hours trying to sort out issues caused by the game, is really really crap. I am on eve to enjoy playing the game not spending hours trying to sort out problems that tbh seem to get worse after every patch fix. Never lost my ship nor gate disappeared until you did fix to stop that, now it happens all the time. Mining, ratting, just setting in station doing research is now impossible due to the constant freezing, I have to say that "cold" rebooting my PC helps for about 5 to 10 Min's then boom, back to lag fest. I for the most part get extremely frustrated at the lag fest. I think the time has come for easy to read and understand equipment pages that show graphics and sounds cards that work with eve and those that do not. I have also turned off sound in eve to help, granted does not help much but when I turn sound back on its stone age.

I have this exact same problem aswell, however, it is not limited to running 2 clients, I get it when running just 1 client aswell. -------------------

Thjothvitnir Thund Gallente Barbarossa's Raiders	Posted - 2009.01.07 18:37:00 - [27] I'm having the same issue(s). When I run one client, I have never observed my framerate falling below 70 or so. Running two clients, the framerate sporadically goes from relatively smooth (40-50) to 5 or below. Usually I get a minute or two of smooth sailing and then a huge burst of the bad lag. This happens most consistently when one or both accounts are docked or at the login screen. Zooming out away from the ship as far as possible sometimes helps, but usually the <5FPS persists no matter what I do until it disappears as randomly as it showed up, or I close one account. The lag is sometimes accompanied by a static/crackling sound from the headset. All of my drivers are currently up to date and I'll be posting a few lines (don't worry, only a few) from dxdiag to tell you all my hardware. Note: I'm running dual monitors. Although I'll only post my display device once, bear in mind that the specs are PER MONITOR. Vista Ultimate 64-bit Core 2 Quad Q6600 4GB DDR2 RAM GeForce 8800 GTX First couple of hours of play is fine, but after that performance begins to degrade. At first I get about 1/2 second total freeze every few minutes - no big deal. But it quickly becomes more frequent and for longer. Pretty soon it's 5 to 10 seconds total freeze every 1 to two minutes. The game essentially becomes unplayable. However, I don't have to reboot to fix. I just quit the game and let it close out, wait maybe 30 seconds for the hard-drive to stop churning, then restart the game and it's fine. And then the process repeats. It boils down to me having to just restart the game every 2 hours or so. I suppose it's not a horrible thing. I use that opportunity to get up, stretch my legs, and generally take a 10 min break from the game. So maybe CCCP has my best interst at heart and is forcing me to take breaks!! EDIT: Forgot to mention... I played the game for about a month a couple of years ago using XP SP2, crappy video card, etc. The same thing happened back then and I eventually completely quit the game because it got so annoying. I figured with a entirely new computer, O/S, video, and the fact 2 years had passed might fix it. Alas. I hope it doesn't drive me to giving up again, because I really enjoy the game.
