Hey there!
We are two psychology students at the University of Iceland. We were lucky enough to get CCP to allow us to do a little experiment concerning the 'self' within and outside the game. We would be seriously pscyhed if you would help us by completing the following survey. Your participation would be a valuable contribution to research into MMORPGs and may impact further development of EVE Online. Detailed instructions will be provided if you proceed. The survey should take approximately 20 minutes to complete. The survey is of course anonymous and no personal information can be linked to your responses.

Before I do this cuz I to took psych in uni and this is a great thing and something Ive advocated with CCP employees before Id like an official dev or GM response that this is in fact legit. I know its a horrid thing to require but I must due to all things Eve in me. 
Strength isnt measured in numbers but in force of will. For if one motived willful individual stands many will fall around him that are weak.

Done. Given the way you've split it up I think it's going to make for some interesting analysis at the end. (Providing you trust this community to remain reasonably honest which ... you know  )
Will you mind publishing results or a brief overview when everything is completed for those of us curious about this?

As for the distribution of what sort of professionals play Eve thatd be a very interesting study/questionnaire and Id LOVE to see that. Though again honesty from the player base would be....iffy at best. lol

Its so nice to see the kids doing sociopath research nowdays. Usually after I complete a survey I mysteriously get an eve mail telling me about a great offer for ISK. Are you selling Nixs for video cards maybe?

i just made it through to part 2, questions about my ingame character
i neither roleplay something different than myself nor identify myself with the ingame character at all, i much more enjoy socialising with the guys (no girls in eve :( ) behind the character
so i answered all questions with 3, he/she wouldnt do anything at all, its simply me (with much less hair) |

I couldn't complete the survey. Answering the questions about myself was easy, but the questions about my in-game character are the same. Would my character enjoy going to an Art gallery? Does he plan ahead and organize things? Does he feel satisfied with himself? What the **** has this to do with EVE? There are no Art galleries in EVE and EVE characters cannot feel anything.
Sorry, but this survey can only be completed by roleplayers, who are a tiny fraction of the EVE playerbase.
Winner of elections banned, runner-up demoted by rest of the body, the council controlled by the losers.
CSM 7 is illegitimate, CCP should remember when dealing with them. Remember what players voted for. |

Well, just look at The Mittani's recent mishap and QQ, by his own account Alex and Mittani are not the same personas, and I wouldn't call him a roleplayer...
I think the survey is interesting even for those of us that are "the same". Fraa would take every opportunity to steal unseen; myself would not.

But the questions are far too specific. I have some vague ideas about what I picture my character to be like, but it does not get down to the level of Art galleries or what his friends say about him. To even get an idea of how my imaginary character would be regarded by his imaginary EVE friends, I'd first need to create a detailed persona for him in my mind... which is role-playing.
I know that my character would certainly steal a million dollars, but I have no idea whether his friends would think of him as stubborn.
