If I'm throwing up the cyno, and someone else is going to jump a carrier through it..
If I throw the cyno up now and after 9minutes the carrier jumps through, will the carrier and me than only have to wait for 1min before he can dock?

Only the person lighting the cyno has the timer. The carrier can be docked/warped/jumped asap, has nothing to do with the cyno

The carrier has a session change timer like any other ship before it can dock, but it doesn't have anything to do with the cyno ship.
Recon ship w/ a cyno is 5 minutes, anything else is 10 minutes.

Jump capable ships that jump to a cyno field can dock as soon as their session change timer expires; the cyno field itself has no impact on them whatsoever aside from allowing them to jump into the system. The only ship that has to wait out the cyno is the ship lighting the cyno. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

But yeah, depends on where and the situation.
Edit: missed the joke. Yes, much less than 10 minutes usually

You remember wrong as it happens - the carrier gets the usual 30 second session change timer after jumping, but asides from that can dock whenever.
What may be confusing you is the session change message you get if you try to dock within 30 seconds of jumping. I can't remember it word for word but it's something like "Cannot dock as you are in the presence of a cynosural field, and you know how dangerous those can be." From this you might have concluded you can't dock until the cyno is down; but no, it's just the usual session change mechanics with a different flavour message.

Ok so I can just put the cyno up, wait 8mins or so, jump the carrier and dock after 30seconds. Sounds nice thank you =)

Is it 30 seconds? I've never seen it longer than 15. In the event of an emergency, my ego may be used as a floatation device.

session change timer is always 30 seconds, what the timer displays depends on how long it takes for your pc to load the system. -------------------------- NOTR *nsfw* |

The carrier only ever needs to wait for the session change timer, so the initial "wait 8 minutes" in your plan is completely unnecessary - you could pop the cyno, jump to it immediately and still dock after 30 seconds. (This is probably a better idea as it prevents someone coming along and destroying your cyno ship in the 8 minutes that you're twiddling your thumbs for some reason).
To reiterate - the length of time that the cyno has been up for, has absolutely no bearing on the carrier's ability to dock at any point.

Are you even reading the thread ?
From the time the carrier jumps, it has to wait 30 seconds until it can dock. It doesn't matter if it jumped 1 second after the cyno lit up, or if it jumps 1 second before the cyno closes. Either way, it needs to wait 30 seconds from when it jumps. ---------------------------------------------- I support skill queues |

Okay, but can I activate gates within these 8 minutes? Parrots, commence!
