1) You can't steal from another player in highsec.
2) You can't probe out mission runners
3) Gates drop you at a random spot within 1 AU of the destination gate
4) When your insured ship is destroyed, instead of getting an ISK payout, you get a new ship, fit exactly the same way.
5) Evemon and EFT-like tools are included as part of the game.
6) Only people in the same fleet can mine in a belt. Anyone else who warps to the belt spawns their own 'instance' of the belt.
7) Similarly, attacking a POS causes the POS to become instanced, and only 20 players per alliance can join in on any instance. Instead of shooting the POS, you destroy it by scoring victory points by winning these instanced fleet battles.
8) Scamming is bannable. You can petition to get your stuff back.
9) NPC-sov 0.0 becomes instanced raid zones, which you must use a fleet to conquer and earn the best loot.
10) Instead of the current skill system, it is replaced with classes, and you must earn XP to level up by killing rats. Instead of a myriad of factors affecting any engagement, it'll be as simple as seeing if your level is high enough, or high than your opponents.

The OP is right.
Coincidently, if you take a house and remove the roof, then remove the walls, then remove the plumping and electric lines, then remove the foundation, then lay down some grass, then plant some trees, you will have a park in 6 easy steps. This also happens more often then people think.

Not to nit-pick but what would be so bad about in-game skill planning and ship-fitting tools? Number five seems a little strange to me.
Saying "WoW does it so it must be bad" is like that old "but ****** thought that too!" argument. Yes, save for empire mission runners no one in this game wants Eve to play like "WoW in space," but there are things the best-funded and most-played MMO in the world does right.

might as well. CCP can't seem to decide what direction to head in. They say they want to keep it all harsh and cold and stuff, but are falling more and more for mass appeal and as a result we have a game in the 'confused' stage, more than anything.
It's just no longer the niche-market game that appealed to us humble, inhuman sadists or otherwise people who need extreme RL therapy that it once was.

Omg, this post is going to give me nightmares.
I would be fairly bummed if a unique game like EVE kicked the bucked and turned into an eve clone. Kinda like when I get bummed when the evil movie studios turn a classic book into a ****ty movie.

I'm glad I left WoW when I got bored at level 74. My fist month of Eve has been more exciting and challenging than the entire 6 months I played WoW.

ok, EvE is not WoW. It's not trying to be WoW. It's (EvE) a unique game that fills a unique niche.
The fact that WoW is the most popular MMO in this world (can't argue with statistics), doesn't mean anything to players like me who find WoW to be, in principle, a big bucket of crap and a general waste of time and money.
The main thing about EvE (for me), is that it is harsh and unforgiving. And when you manage to thrive in a world like this it gives a special (not ****** type special - that would be WoW) sense of reward.
I do agree that having Evemon and EFT ingame and/or provided by CCP would be cool. But as CCP themselves have stated time and time again - the stuff that the playerbase comes up with is just so much cooler than anything that CCP can do(said in regards to API tools).
So:

2. NO - and I am a mission runner.
3. Ok, but then a new mechanic would have to be introduced to catch people entering through gates. The new big gate varieties kind of cleared things up here I think, so no point in this.
4. NO - EvE is harsh, live with it, or leave.

I agree with what Pliauga is saying. Basically, if you implement these steps, then EVE ceases to be EVE.
After trying WoW for the 14-day trial period, I found it to be fun at first, but boring after a while. There was simply no idea of risk.
And risk is what makes EVE, EVE.

Just a list of the kind of changes we'd have to see before we could start really claiming EVE has gone to WoW.
Incidentally, I'd LOVE an in-game EFT and EVEmon should really be built into the certificate system. It's a bear to tell every new player "by the way, go download EFT and EVEmon."
Well, maybe EFT shouldn't be put in. But the skill training plan of EVEmon, definitely. It could even include scheduled (but not regular) downtimes and tell you "skill done in 4 days, but account expires in 2".
