What are my options? I just came back on the five days and I spent my last pennies on a sixty day, I have all the basic skills but not much combat. EWAR is a low-SP profession to achieve effective skills in and I want to give it a shot. I know Falcons are still king, but which other EWAR is nice to have in a gang?

Tracking disruptors have their place especially in smaller encounters, so the Sentinel/Arbitrator/Curse/Pilgrim are good options, besides they are good combat ships in their class as well.
RSDs are more of a niche thing right now, and target painters arent really the type of thing you'd base your ewar career path on either.

I'd say go amarr, TDs can cripple any turret ship easy and draining opponent's cap is always nice too _____________ I don't care what is nerfed, as long as it's not my "undock" button. |

Most of the other recon ships you can actually fly solo as long as you exercise good target selection.
TBH it just depends on what you want to do.

For lols, here's my version of the Blackbird for those who don't have enough cash/skills for an actual Falcon:
HIGHS: 1 x Improved Cloak II 3 x Assault Missile Launcher II (defenders, faction lights for tacklers)
MEDS: 4 x Racial ECM II 2 x Sensor Booster II (1unscripted, 1 lock range)
LOWS: 2 x Sig Distortion Amp II
RIGS: 1 x Particle Dispersion Projector I <-- needed to make this work, increased ECM optimal 1 x Particle Dispersion Augmentor I <-- optional, stronger jamming 1 x Targeting System Subcontroller I <--optional, faster lock speed
The stats (with my skills and all three rigs): 1. Locks out to 190km 2. Jams out to 181km optimal, 30km falloff 3. Jam strength of 11.2 on racial target, 3.75 on non-racial target
Less effective than a Falcon in nearly all regards (less jammers, less range, slightly weaker strength) but then again, it's FAR cheaper and requires fewer skills.
That said and done, a mix of e-war is always good. A fast locking ship with target painters is useful, since a painted ship takes more missile damage, is easier to track and hit with guns (especially larger caliber guns) and is quicker to lock.
Tracking disruptors make turret ships cry. This includes many of the deadlier Amarr ships, like Zealots, Absolutions, Abaddons etc, as well as crippling projectiles even better since it affects falloff as well as optimal. TD's are also surprisingly useful against blasters when range scripted, especially if they can carry null.
Damps are less useful, although they are excellent when scripted to lengthen locking time IF combined with ECM. A failed cycle from the ECM, combined with the longer lock time they suffer from the damps pretty much locks them out of the fight. Other than that, they're of limited use since most ships will still have sufficient range to lock tacklers. Good against tacklers though...

Actually, even if you have the skills you should consider flying this as a training boat for some time or as a cheap alternative to the falcon.
With caldari cruiser on lvl 5, the blackbird has quite a bit jamming potential.

sensor damps kill non triaged carriers ability to remote rep, like almost completely (triage ftw - stop being pussies about lossing your carriers-) ecm can do as well but not as reliably.
personaly i like damps although there not the "best" there still very effective when used in the right way.
also huggins are great. the mix of target painters and webs is very deadly now, especially if you run with lots of torps in gang.
the curse is too fragile imo and the pilgrim is better for solo work at least, as previously mentioned tho traking disruptors are win and so are nuets

Dude, you are freakin' awesome and im dead serious. I wish more people would follow your wishes so we could get a variety in pvp for ewar. i fought against an arazu pilot the other day and damn near asked him to pose for screen shots so i could mount them in a gold framed picture frame.

If you want to do ECM, but dont want to do falcon bcos of price your best bet is propably flying blackbird in gangs. Consider it as training platform. Most problems you have are more or less the same.

whats your goal in those 60 days ?
get enough isks to get another 60 days ? go do missions for example just pvp ? then go out with the options you choose , or any other ship
...
gangs mean you re not alone , plenty of options to choose
