Tonight's patch, a whopping 102 megabytes for a minor version, will include the following features:
1) We will no longer be able to see ship bracket types on combat scan until we get them to 25% :(
2) Guns will now actually change ammo without sh+++ing themselves.
3) Nothing much else of consequence.

sometimes art assets are snuck into patches early to reduce the size of a later patch. standard practice at most MMO companies. WiS is kinda cool and all, but FiS is more important.-á More FIS WORK! Nerf Supers, get the new backgrounds, buff assault ships, do the 0.0 balance, buff lowsec. and make a space pony! DUST SHOULD BE ON THE PC (a real platform!) GDI! I WILL NOT BUY A FQNG PS3 |

The human reproductive cycle is slated for Incarna 1.5 Extreme Edition (EVE Online Gold Account only, an extra $15 per month). |

No, don't get me wrong. I love CCP, I'm much less pessimistic about their efforts than most of the wankers on here are. They seem to be doing a pretty great job in general at the time being given how few people they have actually developing their content at the moment.
I just thought it was amusing how large the patch was for such a small list of mechanical changes. Denidil was right of course, it's going to be mostly pushing assets; I'll be interested to see if they push any interesting new as-yet-unused assets.
This thread is just for happy badposting times.

The thing is that when you look at it what are we really likely getting given Incarna 1.1 which had about the same size 'fix' list was 20mb..
20mb of Patch..
90ish Mb of Incarna Clothing?
I would not be surprised.. if that = your hidden 'assets'.. so in the next few weeks they can turn on those fancy new clothes they keep showing in worthless dev blogs of late. |

The patch may also contain changes that have no discernible effect on the user experience. Or it may contain assets which will be used by future expansions. Or maybe someone added an extra 0 when typing up the patch notes. Either way, 100MB isn't much even on a dialup connection. Unless you live in Siberia and have an ultra-low bandwidth super-high latency satellite connection or something, in which case you can't meaningfully play EVE anyway and probably have bigger worries, like being eaten by bears. Big black Russian bears, with bees in their mouths, and when the bears roar the bees come out and swarm all over you and coat you in delicious honey.
Anyways, it's a patch, which fixes some problems, and is therefore probably welcomed by most sane players. Probably the Establishments update will be a few hundred megabytes in size.

102MB in and of itself is tiny. But for a game patch that doesn't ostensibly include any notable assets, that's pretty big. As we all know normally these little things have been like 12 megs.
And yeah, probably clothing. Who knows, someone's bound to dig through the .blue files and see what's new in there.

Yeah, that fix is... fine, I guess.
Seems like they could've fixed the problem with contact online status with only a little bit more effort though.

This patch contains CarbonIO on the client side which probably accounts for some of its bulk.
CCP is still under the misconception that by waving a bunch of (NeX store items) in our faces, we'll give in to our urges and (buy) them. Bring back the hangar view and its functionality! |
