This entire saga, the banning of the Mitanii and the planed invasion of Jita, is all part of a cleverly orchestrated plan by none other then one Miss Neyix: http://community.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1572490
She must have gone to the fanfest with the explicit intent of causing a leader of a major corporation to 'slip up'. Maybe it was her who encouraged The Mitanni, through seductive and flirtatious behaviour none the less, to drink more then he should have (maybe he even conconspired with Neyix to commit such a faux pas!) which would subsequently lead to his temporary ban and henceforth the planned invasion of Jita. Which would, doubtlessly, leave the trade hub weak and defenceless. A perfect time for her troops to move in and take control. Who knows how many corporations she has under her wing, how many puppets she has covertly gathered in the last seven months - all waiting for this perfect storm to erupt to make their move!
Furthermore, it is now easy to see why Hulkageddon was unexpectedly delayed to coincide with the Goonswarm invasion: it will reduce the capacity for Neyix's enemies to construct the necessary ships and to oppose her invasion, making it far easier for her Coup d'+¬tat to succeed! It's all part of her complex strategy!

What i find rather ... amusing ... is the timing of things.
There's a war themed patch coming, with an escalation beforehand, (war without escalation beforehand makes no sense)
and SURPRISINGLY the biggest content generating alliance starts something that fits PERFECTLY
right for this escalation patch ...
