Everyone seems to recommend sentry zones for agent missions, but I am not sure why. They can shoot at range, but does that matter all that much compared to lousy tracking speed? Is there some strategy or technique I am not aware of that is important?

They don't have to travel to their targets. Plus they can be insta-scooped in case you screw up and they get shot at.

And a sentry damage rig makes the DPS from Gardes II > Ogre II.

Because heavies extremly slow.
If it takes half of minute to group of ogres to fly from one target to another... hell, even drake then will do better.
Garde have very high tracking, an can have even more if you gonna fit omnilinks.

I know a navy mega could field a full flight of sentries (if it has a support ship with light drones for frigs)... Which other BS could ahve that luxury? The kronos can field 4 sentries + flight of lights...
Is skilling up sentries only for the domi (which is a beast on it's own)?

Plus Sentries can tank full-aggro from lvl4 missions when you remote rep them :) Just be careful with the frigates ...

Tech II sentry drones are great on the Dominix, and are a nice option in the Typhoon. They are also somewhat viable in the Armageddon.

Sentrys don't run around aggro whole pockets, leaving you to find a more dps oriented setup. Gank is tank too.

They also don't have/use a MWD when deployed
Drones using MWD make them easier to probe out, giving not one random chance for a probe hit, but 6. Your ship, and your 5 drones

By the way, I am an Ishtar and T2 sentries fan. Fight to make the sentry damage rig work for all drones. |

Any ship with a 125 m¦ dronebay can field 4 sentries and 5 lights, making sentries perfectly viable for some solo non-domi/ishtar ships too.
And if you are reading this, you have arrived at the signature without noticing...

Ok, how do sentries (with or without drone interf 5) compare to large guns? 425mm hybrids, for comparison? Or at least 350s (more popular on Domis)? Meaning, dmg output on a domi fielding 5x sentries and 4 350 large compare to fielding 7x 425s?

I was running a few level 5's a while back, the ishtar with 5 t2 gardes, t2 damage rig was roughly killing 1 faction bs per 2 being destroyed by my 7 425 navy megathron.
It was around there anyway
