Since the last patch my average damage has dropped by 25% at least... While my gunner skills have gone up...
I think its a bit much and it is a real cheesy way to make Tech 2 desirable.
Has anyone experienced the serious nerf with those?
Projectiles, in the other hand semm to work just as well as before...

What is a lot more likely is that the resistances of the rats your shooting have gone up. ( actually it's all that's likely since damage from 250 hasn't changed at ALL ) ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

2004.07.18 23:23:18 combat Your 250mm Prototype I Gauss Gun perfectly strikes Guardian Captain, wrecking for 273.2 damage.
No Damage mods at all.
Seems to me they're working fine :)

Its for sure the npc resistances, thats why you still score big hits when you get into their structure with 0 resistance, the sad part is the inability on many weapons to vary damage types.

Edited by: Teutobod on 21/07/2004 06:27:24 Most of the time you score platry hit it is due to the resistance of the NPC. If you fight an NPC type that is higly resistance to the type of damage you deal you'll notice your shots are 'crap'. As mentioned you'll see much better hits as soon as you hit their structure wich has no resistance at all.
Try and to to EVE Database and lookup the NPC you fight. Just search for it. You may find that you are fighting the wrong NPC with the ammo you use.

If the damage modifier of the gun has not been changed, the base damage on the ammo has not been changed, and the ship bonuses has not been changed how could the damage be changed?
You still score the same hits but higher resistance means you'll get lower hits. Also, the new tracking and hit/miss stuff is taken into account now when calculating the damage and that too will affect the hit. You can still get the same good hit but you need to find you 'Sweet spot' and stay there plus take note of your transversal speed.

Yeah ive been taking transverse speed into account... I guess it is the resists bacause my hits do go up when I get into hull...
I've done dozes of hunts and have about found the sweet spot indeed... It just takes longer now for those rats to go down.

i run 250's on my moa. with a tech2 dmg mod and a low slot tech2 tracking mod i get great hits. In shield i get 40-70, armour 60-100 and the structure takes no time at all. usual hits are 120+ . Best hit against shield was 199, best against armour was 260 and structure was 339. I think they actually got better but it might just be my skillz. I also upgraded to proto gauss's and these kick arse
As for the tech2 250's, according to eve-i.com they gonna have same dmg mod as the proto gauss so they havent nerfed the 250 in preparation for em

Yeah, Gallente can make use of theyre damage bonus from whatever range :) so blasters works very well, especially coupled with theyre large drone bays and armour tanking which means they can use MWDs without the shield hitpoints mattering too much. Caldari ships either get a missile speed/dmg bonus or a optimal range/shield HP bonus :) so might as well make the most of the bonuses and fight from a range :)

u think 250mm rail's have been nerf'd, they using 1400mm's i'm getting an average shot of 300 and there LARGE DAM GUNS! i've try'd using about 4 different ammo types and every single shot hasn't pasted 400, and this is hitting a BS npc rat, it's just not right i tell you!

That's cause the resists of NPCs especially the high end such as BS, are as good if not better then normal tanking players now. NOT cause your guns where nerfed. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

tbh the posting of wrecking shots is pretty much meaningless cos u dont know if its v shield/armour/hull
i would guess the latter cos thats got no resistance. doubt u could get a hit of 200+ with standard 250's and no dmg mod v shields

Edited by: Rthor on 21/07/2004 19:49:31 I think that NPC have more hit points actually. They also keep repairing which would in fact give them more hit points than before. Maybe that is why it takes longer to kill them, and so resistance is not everything.
The point is how do you know that whatever you post here is authoritative. Nobody knows. So just say "I think that..." instead of "I know.."

all of the good wrecking shots are happening in structure.
with large hybrids I was doing about 50 or 60 damage against blood raider armor and then once in structure it was like 270 or something (with iridium at like 90km, ha ha you thought that number was weak didn't you).

Yes nobody knows. TomB does not always know. He has said before that guns were not behaving as intended when you were explaining to everybody that they were fine as you continue to do. He is still working on turrets right now.
My observation is simply that you are a self-appointed authority on everything here, and I am a skeptic. Your hint is an indication of the issue, as you assume that you know more than others. I am simply asking start your posts with "imho.." and maybe be a little more low key. dalman maybe knows, m0o guys maybe know but I am skeptical about you.

I love my 250 CC rails, they are da bomb. Granted now I have to pay more attension to my ranges but I enjoy the required attension to battle now. I used to just target, turn on guns, and switch back to freecell.
