According to Oveur, the skill system isn't going to change. Also, there was a thread on the forums discussing training 2 skills on the same account. Chances are rather high that a dual training system will be put in place. However, CCP is seriously considering (post-Shiva for the timeframe) starting a program where an alt account can be started and paid for at a reduced price if the account is paid for in 6 month blocks. No information on the amount of discount has been released yet.

This is another thing that has been discussed and the chances of it occuring are almost non-existent. EVE is a game that is meant to be played, not changed through a web interface. Also, the Devs have spoken more than once on the reasons why a web-based interface to change skills will not happen. These reasons range from the web-based interface being more of a benefit to the powergamer to the web interface breaking the immersion of the game world.

You mean breaking the immersion the way Heideran Kador still being listed as AMARR EMPEROR does along with other painfully outdated information/attributes
Please, any mention of breaking the immersion can only be met by guffaws of disbelieving RP-ers who have seen umpteen hindrances in their attempts to make the Chronicles come to live inside the game.

To be entirely honest, I would like to see a *small* skillpoint bonus for doing things. Like, 20 skillpoints for a frigate rat, or 100 for a battleship rat. 5sp/minute for mining veld, and 20sp/minute for arkonor, or something along those lines.
I love the current system, but it really doesn't cater to those of us who're more powergamers.
So what? I dislike signatures... *hmph* |

Sure it does. It's just that the advantages you get don't show up on your character sheet.
As a power gamer, you get:
-Increased game knowledge -Better ability to actually fly and fight -Experience in organized ops -Better knowledge of agents, markets, etc -More loot drops and other cool toys -More in-game contacts and allies
These are things that casual players will always lag behind on. No amount of purchased items on x-bay will make you a good pvp'er, or tell you how to fit a ship well.

And how exactly is "now/then" skill training system hurting the game ? Why not schedule 2 lvl4 skills while having a busy week ? And I mean, skills we actualy need to play the game later, not just throw in something to go to level 5 because we dont have the time.

Oh please. Game what ? It's a game we pay for playing for. We play when we can, not when CCP/community managers/whatever tells us to do so. The "game world" exists while we play, not per se, just because the server is running. After all, if there are none players, who cares about the "game world" anyway ? --------------------------------------------- 2004.08.12 14:50:32combatYour 720mm Carbine Howitzer I perfectly strikes Guristas Destructor, wrecking for 543.9 damage. |

They used to have that in Beta and briefly(?) after launch for certain skills, but it was too exploitable and got removed.

I'm not a power gamer, neither are any of my old corp, or my current one to be honest, and we all wish we could change the skills online..
Most of us get in 2 hours a day though.

We just discussed this in my corp the other day. The reality is the gamers in Eve are mostly not power gamer/teenagers with loads of spare time on their hands. Most of us are 20 to 30 years old and have jobs or university to attend. It would be silly for CCP to change the skill system to focus on power gaming.
I agree with Iratus Caelestis and Veskrashen. There is enough opportunity for power gamers but everything hinges on your skills.
Two myths about Eve are relevant here. One is you have to be in a battleship to do PVP. The other is PVP is the ultimate objective / only fun thing to do.
I agree with the Devs not to allow skill queuing or changing skills from the web interface.
Not to say there can't be improvements to the current skill system. But I'll say that I can't see any. -- Top 5 corporation improvements as requested by CEOÆs |

So. Tell me how i train up the 100+ hours of level 1 skills i have to level 3/4 when i play eve for 6-10 hours a week? It's going to take MONTHS. I will have more Lev 5 skills than Level 2/3 skills soon :-(
The skill system caters to powergamers NOW - you HAVE TO BE ONLINE TO TRAIN SHORT SKILLS... if you aren't, you lose training time.

Hmmm, So how does logging into a web page, that everyone can do at school, college, work etc, cater for powergamers only?? Surely the powergamers are then ones sitting at home changing a skill whenever they like cause they are young or don't have jobs.
Secondly, how does nipping home on my lunch and logging in for 25 seconds emerse me in the game world???
You honestly think people play for hours when they only need to change a skill over?? And the opposite is true too, do you think that just because we can que skills (if we could) we would never play?? Don't be silly!!
We play when WE choose, regardless of skill changing, so why not be a bit more flexible?
