Imagine you needed your Scorp to tank gate guns for a protracted period of time, and weren't in the slightest bit interested in the fact that the EW role was what it was designed to do...
Wots the (high skill/low budget) fit for the a/m?

Core Defence Field Purger I Core Defence Field Purger I Core Defence Field Purger I
It tanks 536 omni. If you swapped out the shield recharger with another LSE II you'd only tank 538 DPS omni and likely take a little more damage due to the higher sig. radius.
[Scorpion, New Setup 4] Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II
X-Large Shield Booster II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Photon Scattering Field II Heat Dissipation Field II

Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I
That, however, will tank 601 DPS with a 145m2 smaller sig. radius, roughly a 23.2% reduction over the previous build. It's also cap stable.
Beyond those numbers you really can't get much higher in the way of a tank unless you're willing to accept cap instability which rather negates the "protracted period of time" argument.
Now, I have no idea how gate guns determine targets but I'm thinking that if a logistics ship starts sending you cap they'll shoot it, but what if you hit another ship with vampires? Will they shoot it since it's "giving" you cap or leave it alone because you're "attacking" it?
If the latter you could try setting up a massive cap battery type ship to power this monstrosity:
[Scorpion, Mari - Supertank] Damage Control II Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II
X-Large Shield Booster II Invulnerability Field II Explosion Dampening Field II Ballistic Deflection Field II Heat Dissipation Field II Shield Boost Amplifier II Shield Boost Amplifier II Invulnerability Field II
Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I Heavy Diminishing Power System Drain I
Core Defence Operational Solidifier I Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I
1180 DPS omni tank while the vampires are pulling a full load.
Of course it'll need about 60 cap/sec from another ship which would lead to...
[Dominix, Captastic] Large Armor Repairer II Armor Explosive Hardener II Damage Control II Medium Armor Repairer II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Capacitor Power Relay II
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
[empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot]
Semiconductor Memory Cell I Semiconductor Memory Cell I Semiconductor Memory Cell I
Only a 378 DPS tank but it regens 62 cap/sec more than it uses so it should be able to feed the beast.
Just some thoughts. The latter idea, however, being the most impractical. Not only for logistics purposes but for the fact that I rather imagine you're talking about low-sec where some annoyed person could just blast your cap tap out from under you without CONCORD nuking them first. ____________________

Imagine you need a harbinger to tank gate guns and you aren't interested in guns in your highs.. Well, who cares

Scatim Helicon said "why would you ever want to do this why whywhywhy" Nostalgia would be the answer. The Scorp was designed as a passive shield tank, some people must want to use it for what it was originally designed for.

this,
Passive scorp's in my opinion are utter trash. you can however build a decent buffer and whilst some o the passive numbers are more than decent - you have to dedicate WAY to many slots to it.
its almost a waste of a decent scorp ;) (admittedly falcons, rooks and kitsunes have made them rather obsolete).
a relatively weak active tank will work just fine for the gate guns, you only really have to omni tank 400 DPS, and use the rest of your slots for doing something useful.

Scorpion is a nice ship for eft warrioring ;-)
You can use buffer like this: [Scorpion, SemiPassive] Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II Damage Control II
Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Heat Dissipation Field II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II Photon Scattering Field II
Cruise Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Paradise Cruise Missile Cruise Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Paradise Cruise Missile Cruise Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Paradise Cruise Missile Cruise Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Paradise Cruise Missile Heavy Energy Neutralizer II Heavy Energy Neutralizer II
Core Defence Field Extender I Core Defence Field Extender I Core Defence Field Extender I
190k ehp 282 dps tanked
or
this:
[Scorpion, SemiPassive copy 1] Shield Power Relay II Shield Power Relay II Shield Power Relay II Shield Power Relay II
Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Heat Dissipation Field II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II Photon Scattering Field II
Cruise Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Paradise Cruise Missile Cruise Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Paradise Cruise Missile Cruise Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Paradise Cruise Missile Cruise Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Paradise Cruise Missile Heavy Nosferatu I Heavy Nosferatu I
Core Defence Field Purger I Core Defence Field Purger I Core Defence Field Purger I
628 dps tanked, 96k ehp - needs those nosferatus to feed (runs only 10 minutes without them).
Still the first one is king if you wish to hold for a long time. You can make it even pure passive so only neutralizers eat your cap with 137k ehp and defence 190.
Make sure you have backup with dps cause 150 dps from those cruise launchers before drones is easily beaten by frigates. |
